Default Blog - Operation - Regrind

I had a negative month in March and it was not due to variance. The logical step, when you lose your game it to drop down rebuild. I did not do this. I cashed out my bankroll, leaving 100 fun money in pokerstars. I had a fun playing 2-7 no limit triple draw. After blowing ~50 bucks I had ~51 bucks left and so my regrind started.

2NL i owns it. Feels good to play poker and win. To my dismay, I am learning at this level. I see certain plays, dare I say I even make hero calls.

For some reason while playing this hand against an unknown I was fairly confident that he was on a draw. His river shove looks so bluffy, I couldn't resit it.

My Current BR is 96 bucks, with 36 dollars in winnings from 2nl and 11 tourney victories. This time I am not going to let my soul focus be cash games. I enjoy playing poker and I took it too seriously to have fun with it. It was all about the grind and money. And quite frankly at the level I play the money doesn't matter. Thus, I will sometimes play drunk and I will play some holdem tourneys. Despite this I will not play outside of my bankroll.

I played 8 tourneys, two of which were 90 man (.25), which take for Fing ever, 3rd and 4th finishes (I was pretty hammered while playing these, but soberish by the end since they take so Fing long). I also played 1.4 Knockouts (though that may be considered outside my bankroll, I wasn't worried. When I move up to 5NL. I will play a 1 Dollar tourney and maybe another 90 man 25 cent, they are fine to play while drinking or just when I want to play but can't play my A game.

Things I am working on. Tightness. After everything I learned I was running close to 16/11 @FR, while being only 5/5 UTG. I was way too loose on the CO and HJ. Though, I know I can profitable play 22 UTG in 2NL and 5NL, I am trying to play my 25NL+ game. So for my VP/PFR, have been okay but they are starting to edge up a bit, which I am okay with as long it is in BU and not in HJ. Over 10k hands I am running 9.17 PTBB 12.8/11 and decent 3B of 2.44, this number was low, but in 10k I had 1 opportunity to 3 bet bluff, which was successful.

This thread is my playground for thoughts on life.

Last thing, my number goal in life is to get a job. Number two is to slowly progress up to 25nl again, I am trying to take a very long view of poker this time around. I realized that, when I will have a job I'll only play 20k hands a month but if I can eak out a few buy ins and put it towards my savings I will be that much better off. Plus, I tried playing WOW again and man is it boring compared to poker.

Cliff notes: Cashed out BR, regrinding from 2NL.

Fun little hand in a 90 man knockout. There were 10 players left top 12 paid. What do you guys think of this play. I don't play tourneys often.

    Good luck man.
I'd rather jab a fork in my eye than play those 25 cent 90s.

My biggest problem is playing too many hands as I get better. I feel this trend yet again. I will post my stats here and see how they grow or hopefully stay constant as I move across the limits. I still don't have a good understanding of WTSD and W$SD, I have no reference.

    2NL Stats: 11,686 (8.6 ptbb/100) $40.22
    VP:12.99
    PFR:11.05
    3BetPF:2.41
    ATS:29.42
    WTSD:25.09
    W$SD:53.21
    CBetF:80
    CBetT:31.30
    Fold to Cbet:52%

    Aggression: 3.91/1.3/2.41

Since this is 2nl it is hard to interrupt these since, I almost never slow play and I cbet 100% (maybe 95%) heads up and most of the time in 3 way pots. Most poeple fold to C bets at this level. Also there is nothing better than hitting TPTK Betting flop Betting Turn all draws miss the river, check and someone pushes you are good so often there. I know things will get harder.

    Some thoughts on 2NL:
My second time around I made less money and but I hope it is because I played way tighter than is needed. This took me 28 hours at a rate of 1.43.

    Other highlights:
    Bu:26/24
    Co:17/15
    HJ:12/11

I think I should play tighter in HJ and possible MP2

On to 5NL. Plan to move up to 10NL at 200 bucks.

Hi, wondering when the lure of gambling would bring you back! (I noticed you around here and there recently). I don't make a habit of making too many hero calls without some good reads, which I assume you had.

I'm not sure about stats. If you feel like you should be playing tighter in some positions start asking yourself, "Should I be playing this hand here, is it profitable?"

Good Luck, and if you see me around at your tables, feel free to say hello.

Just go owned at 5NL. Poker hand played on PokerStars with a pot size of $9.87 - Pokerhand.org this was against a guy I only had a few hands on but was a limping quite a bit.

Oh well. I really thought that my river bet would induce a bluff. Since at that point I was sure he didn't have an ace. OPS

Just decided that once BR hit 150, I will start buying in for 200 or 250 BB at the tables.

Villains take such strange lines. Like the following how often do I see a AXcc here, then again he was 11/11 but over tiny sample of 30. Still, this is a pretty sick call. I need to remind myself that unless I have evidence they are a fish i shouldn't make this type of call, even if I am right from time to time.

However, later on my line turned my hand face up, which is not a problem at 5nl but is at higher limits it will be. I just could not see checking back the turn and his river shove with such big stack puts me in a tough spot though he does show up with TT some time...

I guess my equity vs tt AX combos is poor. Arg. I should just call it as a I see it that this was a bad call regardless of results.

Grinding oh the grinding. Had a 30 dollar pot shipped my way. Biggest pot I have ever won in terms of BB 600!

Bottom straight vs middle two on the turn... Scary.

Grinding less. I know my BR is somewhere around 140-150, I haven't checked cause I have no reason too look at it.

I am in love. I hit a pretty sick downswing at 5nl. Like there is such a thing as downswing in the micros. Anyways, for whatever reason I decided to give 6 max a try. And I might be running hot, but I just love being able to get poeple stack with sets and how people will pay you off with TPMK. It is fun. What else is interesting is that I was only 6 tabling it. And I took notes.

I took some notes when I played before but really they were crap. I am really focusing on labeling players as passive or aggressive. Once they get the passive label I b/f,b/f,b/f it is so much fun to get a full stack of TPTK by betting it for 3 streets.

Anyways, I like 6 tabling and taking a lot of notes. Also BR hit 200 bucks so I am moving up to 10NL. I plan to move down if I hit 125, but I'll actually worry about it when it happens. I prob won't move up to 25NL until I have 500, which means I will be spending a ton of time at 10NL.

    Fun part graphs.

Run A little hot in 6max

Plus I think I am nit In 6max. 18/16 with 31% ATS, but those stats are widening.

Full ring sucked I didn't play too well and run 8 buyins under EV

That is all for now. Hopefully 10NL 6Max doesn't own my soul.

10nl 6m has such a wide array of players. You know what tilts the hell out of me.

It isn't the min donk bet but the min donk bet than i raise then he shoves. I go no way he plays a set like this..... arg.

So, I found that if I just chilax and not be a 3 bet monkey my red line goes up even. So relaxation is key.

So, I failed. BR 150ish. Back to 5nl. I sometimes just get way too aggressive, like I have something to prove. I need to care less and work harder.
