This post is in response to the subtle jabs at my manliness because I don't have DSL.

I consider any money that comes into our house to be OUR money (not MY money). And when she is earning over 6 figures in about 5 years I will still consider it to be the same. If I really wanted DSL, I could get it. But dial-up works. I can only remember a handful of times where I have been disconnected in important hands. Would those hands probably have paid for DSL - yeah. But I don't care.

My wife and I have open dialogs about poker. When I first started getting a little better than average I made her a promise that I would play with the $1k I had won at that point and that's it. She considers the money I have at poker sites to be "funny money"; however we have agreed that whenever I cash out, that money is now "real money" - i.e. it ain't part of the poker bankroll anymore. Although I have gotten down to less than $100, I have never broken my original promise and have not had to redeposit.

As I have gotten better and have turned that $1k into almost $20 k I have started to play higher stakes I have let her know that my actual bankroll needs to be higher in order to withstand some hits. As it stands right now, we have agreed that I can keep $10,000 to use as my "funny money" - everytime I get it over $11,000 I am going to cash out $1,000. If I feel the need to juice my "funny money" up to $15k or higher so that I can start playing even bigger tourneys, than I'll discuss that with her and we'll come to another agreement. But right now I feel comfortable playing my $10/$20 with at least 500 buy-ins and picking my MTTs as I feel are appropriate.

I will continue to detail my daily sessions here.
