comments vs forum (read me, xianti!)

People visiting my blog have been leaving comments, which is awesome! Keep em coming guys, I really appreciate them a lot.

Question though, what is this forum for then? When I want to comment on a blog post, I should just leave a comment in the blog, right? That being the case, what should I be leaving in the comment threads in this forum then??

I like the comments section that immediately follow our blog posts....but I think the best way to reach me, and the best way to get a great discussion started, is to post your comments/questions here on the forums. I don't always check out other people's comments section in their blogs, but I definitely see/read comments left on the forum.

Hey courtie, when we first launched the blogs here at FTR, Eric and I were concerned about spammers attacking the comments. We are under constant attacks, mostly from bots that you guys don't see, and we were wary about the security on the blog comments. So, we had them turned off and created this forum where we could keep an eye on things. But we haven't had issues with the blogs and people were asking about the comments, so we thought we'd turn them on and give them a try... so that's how we ended up here - with comments enabled and a forum for the blogs.

So, I guess the comments are good for immediate feedback on any particular post, but the forum is better for two-way, in-depth conversations...

I'm gonna read how wildbob sucks at poker now...
