I need a blog to track my progress through 25NL and 50NL full-ring. Basically going to use this as a hand dump and a motivation tool to improve my game and put in more volume.

Starting Bankroll: $1433
Operation: Get to 100NL

Here's my stats since April when I started a new database and switched to HEM. I need to put in more volume, this I know. I also need to start multi-tabling more. Any leaks you notice at a glance feel free to let me know.

FYI - the 20NL was all 6max on Sportsbook. The rest is full-ring at Stars and FTP.

June Goals

• Review probability, odds, expected value and SPR
• Play more hands/start adding tables
• Put villains on a range every hand - no excuses!
• Don't look at the cashier, winnings tab or win rate until July 1st
• EDIT: Leave bad tables sooner

Ok, so I'm gonna take my full shot at 50NL when my bankroll gets around $1750. That's 35 buyins. But I'd like to get in at least 15-20k more hands at 25NL before moving up, so we'll see what happens. I figure I'll take the rest of June and all of July to seriously up my game, grind out some hands and see it where leads me.

I've never been a math guy, and yes I know there's a ton of great players that aren't math scholars either. Nevertheless, it's a valuable skill to have and any edge I can get over the next guy I'll gladly take.

I'll be reviewing Expected Value first, where I'll grab a few hands from my database, then come back here to post some practice calculations.

35BI sounds a bit excessive, no? How about taking shots from 25BI then seeing how you go? I'm glad you have the patience to wait that long. I can't stick around over 20BI really. I moved up to 10nl with $210 and just added tables for every 10$ I won after that, so for example at 250$ I was fully rolled to play my optimal playing approach of 4 tables.

Maybe a little, since I don't mass table and don't make a ton of high variance plays, but certainly not excessive imo. I'm definitely not putting 50NL or even 100NL on this pedestal, because in the end it's just poker and a bad player is just as exploitable at 10NL as he is at 200NL. There's just less of them.

I've just always been somewhat conservative with my money and I believe playing a little over-rolled, while possibly sacrificing some money in the winnings column, is +EV at the table (damn you tilt) and in life. Hell, when I get to the point in my poker journey where I'm making regular withdrawals to pay for random shit, you can bet your ass I'll have between 50-100 buyins.

There's also nothing wrong with sticking to the 20 buyin rule. It depends on the person really. If you're mentally capable of handling the swings and can move back down without a bruised ego, then go for it all the way to 1000NL.

Me, I am very prone to tilt and I'm not ashamed to admit it. My family has a history of mental illness, and while I'm nowhere near as bad as anyone before me, I can snap into a "fuck life" state pretty easily. So the only way I know how to deal with it, in a poker sense, is play a little over rolled and it seems to be working okay for me.

So I was supposed to come back here with some hand reviews and all-in EV. I've got much more important things to worry about ---> I don't think I've ever spewed as much since my first deposit than I have in the past few days. Trying to outplay people that won't fold, running stupid bluffs, calling out of position, and so on and so forth. I can't fucking control myself lately. Thank freaking Christ I'm bankrolled well.

I'm not talking about fit or fold, weak-tight ABC faggot poker. More so, tight(er), smart(er), and less spewy ABC poker, among other things. Seriously, it's not like this game is that fucking hard to beat at the stakes I play at. I am my own worst enemy.

I'm still doing some comprehension on poker odds, equity, SPR, etc. However, it sucks that I've already broken the "don't look @ cashier/winnings" rule already. Guess I just wanted to see where I'm at in terms of moving up to 50nl. Bankroll is a tad over $1500. Pretty good considering I had some really shitty sessions this past week - both in terms of running below +EV and tilt.

On a more positive note, I've noticed some leaks and I am fixing them immediately (besides the tilt control). In the simplest terms, this means calling less and folding more. The other would be playing back at an unknown or villains that don't have the fold button installed. These are fairly common leaks for a 25nl player, so I'm not going to do an in-depth analysis here.

I've also figured out that I need Need NEED to play MORE tables. I've been playing 2 tables and pushing all the small edges in a full ring game (see positive red line in first post). But for crying out loud, 2 tables ain't going to get it done. I should be playing 4-6 tables at full ring and work on getting to 8-9 tables comfortably by the end of July. No excuses. It's time to grind or GTFO.

I subscribed to Grinderschool and just finished watching my first video - 50nl full ring with M2M...

There was an interesting hand at the beginning of the session in a BvB where M2M raised to $1.50 in the SB with Ah2d. BB calls (100bb stack). Flop is Kh9d5h. He cbets $2 into $3 and gets raised to $5 by the BB.

Now ordinarily I'd tank and fold because I don't have much at all and I'm OOP. But first things first - the villain's flop raise seems bluffy. Second, he can only have 6 combos of sets {55, 99}. Third, K9 seems unlikely and K5 isn't in his range. Fourth, M2M holds the Ah as a blocker for the nut flush draw.

He can only fold or 3bet here since his equity isn't great and he's OOP. He has the Ace and the backdoor flush/straight draws. But if he 3bets, can villain find a fold with top pair? Or does villain have complete air? He may or may not but taking everything into consideration, villain has air a decent % of the time.

M2M 3bets to ~$13. I like the amount because it will either a) fold out villain's hand or b) it leaves room to fold if villain 4bets (unlikely). Villain folds. EZ game.
