Goals for 2006
I know that many of you are focused on building bankrolls and continually moving up to higher limits when bankroll management permits. My view on poker is slightly different. I have a wife and 3 kids. I have a well paid job and I have other hobbies. Generally I get to play about 15hrs week which equates to 6000 hands of full ring / month (2 tabling). In order to justify this time I need to give something back to myself and my family. I have set out below the items that I am going to pay for with poker winnings in 2006...
1) Golf club membership fees ______________ $1170
2) Renew football season ticket _____________ $810
3) Golf weekend away (lots of alcohol) ________ $660
4) Easter short break ____________________$560
5) Something small and expense for wife ______$1800
6) Extra spending money for summer vacation _$1000
7) Extra cash for Christmas _______________$1000
Total $7K
Last year (my rookie year) I turned my initial $50 deposit into $5.8K (including more than $4K of bonuses). I have cashed out ~$3.5K, so my 2006 bankroll starts at $2.3K.
Most of my time will be spent playing 1/2 or 2/4 limit holdem. In general I will pick the appropriate game to clear all the monthly bonuses efficiently. So for example on Party and Empire the bonuses clear quicker at 1/2, wheras the Cryptologic rooms have to be cleared at 2/4 to make them worthwhile.
An "average month" would breakdown as follows....
3500 hands of 2/4 at 1.5 BB/100 ______ $210
2500 hands of 1/2 at 1.5 BB /100 ______ $75
Poker bonuses ____________________ $550
Casino bonuses ___________________ $200
If I can sustain this then I will easily make my $7K of spending money and I will also boost my bankroll by $5K. If the bonuses start to dry up then I will consider moving up to 3/6 or playing some 6 max. Now if only I had never got married .......
Progress
Golf fees are on the Mastercard and need to be paid by Feb 12th.
January profit to date is $814. So far so good.
