So, how did it go? Why? What are your goals for August?

I did good.

My goal for august is to play 40k hands at 25/50.

July goals and results:
* Play 10k hands/week at least of 4-tabling 5max
I've played 19k hands. The goal was a bit too big, but I was away from home for over a week, which wasn't planned for. I'm gonna move and some stuff this month but I'll try to play AT LEAST 7k hands/week.

* See how 5-max treats me
Nice. Started at 100NL (2k hands 200NL) and made $3200. I'm more than happy with a little bit over 5ptBB/100. Also made an additional $1000 clearing a bonus, which I withdrew.

* Maybe take some shots att 200NL if my BR hits $5k
Done, 2k hands and $600 so far. There seems to be donks here too My BR is at ~$6k now.


August goals
* As I said, I'll try to play 7k hands/week. Maybe invest in another monitor and play more. (4-tabling at the moment)

* Get used to 200NL and win as much money I can. I can use most of the money for my bankroll, so growing that will be the primary goal.

JULY

1. Find a new apartment that's affordable, in a good neighborhood, and meets my specifications.

Success ($600/month for a beauitful place in Prospect Heights).

2. Stop spending so much goddamn money on overpriced drinks in bars.

Partial success.

3. Stop eating out so much.

Failure (eh, this one was the least important anyway).

AUGUST

Unfortunately, I don't have a bankroll anymore cause I had to withdraw the whole $6k due to an outside force, and consequently had to start working more hours on my "real job" to make a living.

Thus, my primary august goal is clear:

1. Earn enough to create a non-trivial start-up bankroll and get back to grinding it out (and working less hours on my real job). Try to do this by the 3 weeks into the month, so I can get a solid week of poker in before September.

And a subgoal:

2. Until I have a bankroll again, spend the time I would have spent playing poker learning to play a new kind of poker (booksmart-wise, obviously I won't be able to practice it much if at all until I have a bankroll).

Figure I should expand my skill set somewhat.

Go through all the trouble/marginal hands I've identified in PT and post notable hands for review.
Good. Found a few leaks and playing those hands better for the most part.
Don't fire up tables when you are mad because your kid woke up 7 million times and didn't let you play when you had the free time
Failure. Did it twice and it cost me a few stacks.
Be much more careful with those hands you get reraised/pushed on.
Meh. Did good until last night, with the exception of Goal #2.
Set a timeframe for each session before I play and be sure to leave 15 mintues at the end for hand review/posting.
Good. Reviewed plenty of hands.
Post atleast 15 hands for review this month.
Good.
Build my bankroll to $600
Failed. Mostly due to Goal #2. If I had followed that, I'd have most likely made it. Plus a little 6max experimentation, bleck.

August Goals
1) Post 15 hands for review.
2) Review for trouble hands again.
3) Don't play mad, upset, frustrated, sleepy, short on time, etc. Damnit...do this!
4) Watch those raised/reraise hands again, you can do better.
5) Take some money out of UB and go bonus whore atleast one site.

Cool thread idea. I just got back into the game in July after a long break; here's what's up:
Mon, Jul17 -- deposited $150
Mon, Jul 24 -- balance $330
Mon, Jul 31 -- balance $408

August goals... avg 150 hands/day $25 NL 10BB/100 so
((31 X 150 /100) X (10X.50)) ...
4650 hands and $232 profit

balance $640

July goals:
repeat my june -- 15k hands make $1,300 at 100nl FR
6 tabling

July was really good to me $1700 up in poker $800 up in bonuses.

June was my best month up $1500 (bonuses and poker)
July New best month up $2500 (bonuses and poker)

June I went from 50nl to 100nl
July I went from 100nl FR to 100nl 5max


August goals:
Probably will not get as many hands in. I hope to maintain $1500 a month
Probably take a couple shots at 200nl FR and 200nl 5max. I am bankrolled for it, just haven't done it yet becuase I have been running well at 100nl

Still one night to go for me, but hard to believe I could bust out this one. It's in my sig, btw...

August goals:

Log 10K more hands at $50NL to establish a decent winrate.
Increase BR to $2500
Clear Stars bonus
Clear another bonus (undecided on room right now)
STOP PAYING OFF SETS!!!!

July

This was a great month, exceeded my expectations by far. Add about $2200 of bonus/cashback to this.

3) Play at least 30000 hands of 400NL and hopefully make it my main game for the future.

July was my first losing month ever, so it's safe to say I didn't reach my goals.

August goal: Play barely any poker, study a lot, and pass my prelims.

Use 50% of the time you troll the forums to play poker, that should free time for at least another 10k hands a month.

Social activities are a big no no, they only prevent you from realising the greatest pleasure in life, which is grinding on 8+ tables 24/7

If you have a girlfriend then break up with her. Girlfriends are a huge timesink. The time spent pleasing her is inversely proportional to to the amount of $ you make, which in turn directly correlates with the amount of hookers you can afford!

I am a terrible mentor though, a friend of mine used to play from my place and he managed to bust his whole bankroll.

I laughed at the idea that 50% of my time spent on ftr would net me ONLY 10k hands.

July was a bad month for me.
Went into my biggest dowswing so far,down 12 buy-ins.My goal was to reach $5k by the end of august but i don't think it is gonna happen.But im not giving up yet.
Most of the pots i lost was when i had my money in when i was ahead, but also some of the losses had to do with a little of tilting after those bad beats.(And one night i was drunk and tilted some more after some bad beats)
Im also learning how to play 7stud h/l and omaha h/l and so far it costed me a little bit money,not much but im getting better at it.

My new goals for August: - Concentrate more on the tables when i'm playing to get better reads.
-Recover from my dowswing and get atleast back up to $4k.
-Gonna study Omaha and 7stud and try to get good at it.
-Stop playing when im drunk.
-Read and learn from more HH analyses.

I played 91hrs 6-tabling (48K hands) and made ~5.4K , so I'm happy with this month.

I'm not really beating 400NL though (+1.2ptbb/100 over 36K hands), so my goal for August is to play ~40K hands there and just improve my play.

1. Prioritise my relationship

I actually sort of did this! Spent more quality time together, did fun things, talked about serious stuff. We're off on holiday together tomorrow - hopefully it'll help further.


August:
I feel I'm at that stage in my poker career where I don't really have specific goals. I have been trying to move to $50NL rather than £25NL, but because of the exchange rate £25 is about the equivalent to $47NL anyway so it seems almost bloody-minded to move to a harder game where I know I do less well. I am rolled for $100NL but I just don't have anything like the necessary confidence or the ability to bounce back from a minus 3 buyin session. So meh, I dunno. I'll continue to get better at 6max, maybe (I've been playing FR almost exclusively for the last 10 months or so until a fornight ago). If anyone has any suggestion what I can do, please make them!

Until the day I consistantly beat 1000NL+ for a good winrate I am not a highroller, now I am just a low-mid stakes grinder.

lost 6k this month, mainly due to sucking at poker and running like anus at 10/20nl. My goal for august is to relax, play poker when i feel like it, and maybe get back to work in sepetember.

You are a FTR member from as far back as 22 Apr 2005, I also think that you are a good solid player. If the 100NL game at whatever network you play at is so tough then play somewhere else. If you have the bankroll and skill then you MUST move up. Failing to do so is just a waste of potential earnings. If you can't take a 3 buyin downswing then maybe poker is not for you.

I've upped my goal to 100k hands. I know i can do it easy.

My July goal was to make $10,000 and make $2/4 my regular game.

I'm at home and don't have access to PT and my exact numbers, but I made over $14,000 and am >5bb/100 at ~20K hands at $2/4 thus far.

I'm gonna be on vacation then school starts in a couple weeks, but my August goal is to actually get my new account fully set up on Party, continue to play well at 2/4 and start taking some shots at 3/6.

I'm gonna get to 600NL if it kills me.

Aren't you being a bit modest here? I mean, that's a good quality to have, but $20k in one month.. that means in 2 months you'd make more than people with regular jobs make in a year..

Accomplished: Played 40k hands and made 8k.

My goal for August: Play 40k hands of 2/4 and make 12k at this little sidejob I have while I go to school full time.

My July goal was to play 10k hands at 2xNL and clear $300 in bonus. Managed both. For a while it went really well and I broke through the 1K BR and even tried my hand at $50NL.

In the end I lost a couple of hundred through July and only the bonuses kept my BR growing.

Cashed out some $300 so I'm back on a $500 roll. Was disappointed when I saw what $300 is in kronor....

August goals:
Taking a month off poker (and it's been 4 days and I'm already itching... maybe I have a problem... devoting time to CounterStrike as a way of working out the anxiety).

Reading more of the forums here, thinking (ouch ouch!) and plan on re-reading TOP, HOH, FLBKAS. ('k, made up the last one).

3) Play aware & intelligently.
4) Keep a journal with basic notes >>

Was able to do 1,2 sort of 3 and not 4 at all.

August (poker) goals:
1) Play 7.5K hands at about 10ptbb/100.
2) Read TOP/ Ace on River / new TOP book
3) Write at least one poker article for FTR.

So month is starting out terribly only played 500 hands so far

20 an hour 12 tabling= about 65 hours of play time for the MONTH...easy as pie

what's your physical setup for 12tabling, trik? dual/triple head?
