This is a very good idea - remember you need to be honest, disciplined and keep writing whether you've had a good session or not. I find that even 5 mins with Poker Tracker after a session makes a discernible difference, and writing about your experiences can only further your quest for knowledge.

It's an unfashionable thing to say, but don't put poker ahead of the other things in your life. Sure, on good days you'll play for 6 hours, make 6 buyins and think "yeah!", but give it too much airtime and you'll miss out on other things and become un healthily beholden to it. Others may disagree here; I've made my views on fun vs profit on several other threads so I won't bang on again here

Don't set direct BR goals. Set number of hand goals (and make them realistic - 10k hands a week will impact on your social and school life, so don't be overambitious) and, with a reasonable BB/100 expectation (think about 4-5 as the area you should be aiming at - higher is definitely achieveable but you are probably simply too green and having expectations that are too high can be very destructive).

Most of all, enjoy playing and enjoy writing about it. I'll be reading
