Ok so it's been a crazy month or so. I said a few posts ago that I felt like I was on the verge of something, I had these sparks of ideas floating in my head about poker and HoH has been awesome in clarifying them and confirming that I am mentally heading in the right direction. I love the worked examples and always attempt an answer before reading Dan's... so far he's agreed with me on every single example, yay.

I moved up in Dec and have been promptly served by variance. Solidly ahead against both villain's range and individual hand (65%+ consistently) but the BR has taken a hit. I have also spewed a few hands where I overestimated my FE and/or villain's range because I had a good-but-not-great hand and thus had already decided I wanted to play it.

It's strange because right now I feel better than ever at the table but my graph shows the biggest slide I've ever had, there's a dissonance there and I have a several stage plan of attack to correct it:

1/ Stop playing. I have other stuff that needs my attention anyway, will return for the end of the month. If I get any play time before then I will study instead.

2/ More study. Been doing loads of reading, HH reviews, range analysis, stoving, spreadsheets, it's been awesome. I have several hands marked to be posted to ftr and a study buddy to bounce ideas off of. I know where I need work and will put the hours in.

3/ Observe. Before I play again I will open two tables and just watch. I haven't done this in such a long time.

4/ Move down. I'm still rolled ok but will drop until I'm no longer misjudging every 400th hand or so as it's killing the winrate right now.

I've been doing really thorough session reviews with ranges and EV analysis. For the vast majority of hands I'm satisfied with my play... some of them I'm quite proud of too. Despite this, stepping away for a week or two to study and gather my thoughts is probably the most +ev of all right now.

    Hands to follow.
