This really depends on your definition of "thin value" I would say.
I agree that if they are checking a scary straight/flush card on the river they probably don't have those hands. So they don't have the nuts, but they can be checking overpairs/two pairs/sets that are scared of the river.
So becareful not to value-town yourself. I'm good at value-towning myself
