Hey guys, my name is mike and i am from canada. my sign name is mikey0601. like most poker players, i like tracking my progression, so i am going to start my own blog. first ill tell you a bit about me

first off, i am from calgary alberta and i started playing poker about 2 years ago. i hardly played after learning and it wasnt until i depostited 50 bucks into party poker that it really caught on. after doubling my money and cashing out 50 i kept playing and eventually lost the rest. i took a while off from poker and never really played for about 5 months last year. when i started college in the fall i started reading a lot about poker. i bought phil gordons little green book and i think it really helped my play. after getting back from hawaii over the christmas break(after reading the book two times over) i decided it was time i try live play in a casino. i played incredibly tight and very aggresive. i played a total of 4 3-8 hour sessions of 1/2 nl over 4 days. after winning $400-$450 i realized i was a decent player or just got really lucky. the last session i played was super deep stacked (700-1500 stacks. it was also 1/2) and i had a tough time playing because it was so aggresive and the preflop raises were almost half my $100 stack hah. anyhow i busted out after getting sucked out on the river. i was pissed, but at the same time i realized i shouldnt be playing 1/2. my bankroll can not support it(im 18 and a college student). so i did a lot more reading and studying of my play and finnally made the decision to build my bankroll the correct way online. i depostited 200 on to full tilt poker. for a few months i grinded it out in the .05/.10 nl games. after not really seeing too much succes as those games are full of donks, i decided to start playing/learning omaha. i took some bad beats, but at the same time they tought me a lot about omaha. so about a month ago i started playing it the .05/.10 capped/uncapped plo games. i saw a bit of success and realized how profitable/swingy omaha can be. about two weeks ago i had built my roll up to about 275 after playing well in $10nl and .05/.10 plo. then after continuing play at these levels i built my roll to about $305. On monday night i decided to enter a $3+.25 turboNLKO 90player sit and go. i went on to win the match and won $70. after this i finally decided to play with about 16 buyins at 25nl. i also started playing 25plo. last night i played the $3 90 plr s&g again and took 3rd. so that put me at around 320. today i have played about 500 hands of 25plo and 25nl and i have build my bankrol up to $480.

anyhow, sorry for the novel hah, but thats basically where im at with poker right now. im not sure if im just running really well or if im playing well. ill post some hands to let you guys help me decide

i forgot to post what my current short term goals are...

step 1: reach 600-700 playing 25nl and 25PLO by months end
step 2: start playing .15/.30 nl and continue playing 25PLO. build bank roll to 1000 by mid april
step 3: move up to .25/.50 nl and if i feel ready .25/.50 PLO aswell.
of ocurse after .25/.50 will be .50/1 and so on. the main thing is i will only move up when i have atleast 20 buy ins and feel ready for that level


oh and could someone please link me to these poker graph sites. or any other site where i can track my progress via graphs. thanks

alright, i havent been playing a whole lot since i posted this blog. i started a bit of a downswing and lost about 3buy ins
i got my head in it again and won back about 1.5 buy ins
i also got poker tracker(demo) and it realyl is a great program. when i can, i will make sure to buy the full version. anyhow it is telling me i have made $990 and lost abut $830 the past two months playing mostly 25nl. i know these are not good numbers(the -830 atleast hah). i am going to study the program more this weekend and do a lot of reading. i want to find out where the flaws in my game lie. jsut glancing at the charts and numbers it is easy to see that hand selection/postion have a lot to do with it and from my own analysis i know i need to be playing my big hands more aggresively. any input on where my flaws might lie would be great. ill post graphs and hands when i reach ten posts lol
