Default nUFamn's Rolling to $1000 Bankroll

Well, just thought I'd document my journey somewhere, and where else to do it than my favorite Poker Community?

    The Beginning
Made one deposit of $100 on FTP, lost it. Made another, lost a bit, withdrew and went to UltimateBet and started winning.

    After the Move to UltimateBet
Well I brought about $70 to UB, and quickly fell in love with $2+.20 SnG's. Won a bit, and did quite well at 10NL and decent at 25NL... bankroll is up to around $200! Right where I started woohoo!

I won a bit more, made a withdrawal of about $150. $55 for Poker Tracker, $35 for Epassporte Visa Card, and $45 to throw back on Full Tilt (cuz I like how PT works with it much better, and it's got a lot more players on it).

Increased my $50 to about $60 through playing 10NL over about 6-8 hours of play, not too bad. Got bored last night, decided to play a $2+.25 180-person SnG... and I won it!

So, now I've got about $80 that I have on UltimateBet, and $150 on Full Tilt.

Unfortunately, looking at the numbers, I'm still right around where I started even after a $97 tournament cash and earning a bit here and there in ring games. BUT I also have PT and Epassporte's Visa Card, which is $90... so I guess I'm doing well. I feel like I should've waited for PT, but there's no going back now, and I'm glad I have a way to get money off the sites now if I need to.

    Where to Go from Here?
I'm tempted to keep trying the $2 180-man SnG's, as I enjoyed it. Smaller risk, good rewards. I also want to go back to 10NL, now that I'm decently rolled for it. Any thoughts? I'd be very appreciative.

    Starting Bankroll: $200
    Current Bankroll: $230
    Bankroll Goal: $1000

wondering where the 3 extra chairs at my 6max table came from
Dude... welcome! Have made UB my home too. Was $1/2 limit, then $2NL and now $10NL.

Best of luck! If you wanna stick the BR guidelines, you should be able to bump your roll to 3 bills at $2NL reasonable quickly. Then you can play $10NL with a clean conscience! I actually bought PT really early too. And it has been great... if not so much for tracking the crazy antics of the low limit competition, but keeping myself honest.

Look forward to hearing how it goes.

    Cheers!

    8:05pm - Bought into another $2+.25 180-person SnG.

8:15pm - Got KK, raised, flop comes AKQ... player raises his all-in and I call... yes, he's got the straight. Turn: A. River: K. Sick, I feel bad.. but not too bad.

9:10 pm - 11th out of 65 so far... doing well again! Folding lots of hands, waiting for people to get weeded out I suppose. We'll see what the next hours bring...

9:32 pm - I feel like the cards are working against me... I mean it's not surprising really, but my AKs never hit, my KKs do but straights and flushes come out, just a weird night. I'm still doing well, folding most of my cards :P Oh and all of my bluffs are getting re-raised. Ugh!

9:53pm - Agah! This "flop not hitting" crap has got me on the bubble now, 31st out of 40... I'm just trying to cash at this point. Once I get there, I can figure out a plan for getting to the final table....

10:02 pm - I'm gonna go through the hand history for this tournament and see how many times I got 68o, 73o, T4o, etc.. just trashy cards the majority of the night. I'm still alive though.. If I can catch one hand I am right back in this!

10:05 pm - Well, I caught a hand.. pocket 7s. At this point, we've been stealing blinds over and over, just changing hands. So, when someone else calls, I move all-in to steal. (I definitely overplayed the 7s, in retrospect I should've just min-raised probably.) As the other "stealer" calls my all-in, he turns over Aces. Done for! Oh well, good experience and a cheap way to play poker for 2 hours.

Thanks for the response sarbox, I'll think about playin 2nl... definitely lowers the tilting aspect of the game. I also wanna figure out how to work Poker Tracker with UltimateBet... I got the little Hand History program, but it wouldn't work the first time I tried it. I definitely like UltimateBet a lot more for SnG's, as their fees are lower and they allow 10-max instead of 9.

Anyways, I'll keep trying to post stuff up here on a regular basis. Thanks!

Gah! So mad at myself right now. Last night started off great... bought in on two tables of 10NL, and within an hour or so had one up to $27 and the other at $18... so that's like two and a half buy-ins up! Wheeeee!

Then I had some friends come over, so I decided to quit and we started drinking and smoking. All's good, winning night, now time for some fun. Problem is that after they left, I got the bright idea to go back to the game still drunk.

I hate playing poker drunk, it does not help me make smart decisions. For instance, I'm holding KJo. Pfr of about 3bb, I call. Flop comes KQJ.... villain pushes all-in... and I f'in call? My read on the guy was that he played a bit loosely, but $16 into a $2 pot, and I call with two pair? I mean come on, he could've been on KK, QQ, JJ, AT, T9... anything. I hate two pair. More annoyingly, he flips over KQ to beat my KJ... After that move I was on tilt, and I didn't even realize it til after the fact due to the damn alcohol.

So, moral of the story, don't come back for more action after you're tanked... it doesn't work out well. I lost what I'd won earlier plus another buy-in before I left. *sigh* Time to take the weekend off I think and continue giving myself a stern talking-to.

The last few nights have been so frustrating... :P

Today, I squeezed some playing in between classes. Did alright for a while, but then I get QQ. I raise, he re-raises, I call. On the flop he goes all-in for like $4. I've got a huge overpair, and I'm tempted to throw my QQ down but i figure there's still two cards yet to come and he might be playing TT or JJ, as I've got only a few hands logged with the guy. I call, he turns over aces. Damn!

Literally two hands later, I get KK. I figure, against my better judgement of "trying to get back at him," this will be perfect chance to get my money back. So he raises again, and I'm like "OOoo, maybe he's got the lower pair this time." I re-raise, and we traded blows a bit pre-flop, and again I'm all-in with KK... and he throws over AA AGAIN. Now, revenge aside, part of the reason I did this is I thought he might be playing very aggressive with AK, JJ again, or QQ, or something like that. I thought it was stastically (not impossible, but definitely) improbable to happen twice that quick, so I really didn't mind throwing the stack in there. But yea, so that was down 1.5 BI.

Then tonight I get home and play a bit, it seems like every time I get a decent hand, someone has something better. I started to play some lower suited connectors in an effort to trap big pairs and take some stacks, but nothing's hit, and the one time it did the dude got a boat. Just so frustrating sometimes!

I think I need to realize that as long as I'm playing under-rolled (as I am right now), I've got a good chance of going busto with this variance thingamajig.
