Op 100nl by Sept w/ 2k BR
Okay. This will be a work in progress here from shit to a bit. From the start of my poker playing career, here goes eh. I started with live cash/sng's playing with my friends, me and another of mine have thought about starting to play poker longterm and to learn more about the game/make money and have fun doing it. I didnt know much about poker to start off with just how to play and hand rankings and that the better two cards you hold the better off you are but not much more then that. I have gained a couple of bad influnces but i have finally commited myself tonight really to REALLY start playing poker and learn and gain the most i can out of it.
I have dropped about $200 bucks playing friendly games of poker with my freinds throughout the past couple of years. Then i turned 18 and started playing at a local casino. i did not learn to much from playing at the live cash tables besides the fact i found out what certain people like to play and how they play their hands. But that didnt stop me from losing about $500 in past year n half or so. i also played some MTT's at the casino, first time i played at the casino was a MTT and i bubbled out of cash so i felt good about that but it didnt improve much from their on out.
My friend was playing on Pokerstars at the time and told me about online poker. I learned some stuff about the pros/cons of playing online to live. like more hands you can play online compared to live and alot less downtime, like driveing/waiting for tables to fill/SNG's and MTT's almost all the time. so i was all game with that. then i have been playing on and off with poker online for about past 6 month's and in that time my friend has become pretty good online and learned alot, which inspired me to play more often online.
Well it hasn't gone too great for me so far down about $300-$500 from online poker. then a couple a weeks ago my friend is like, 'okay do you want to do this?'. i thought about it though still not truly committed and was like, 'okay i am willing to learn a bit'. so i tossed a fresh $200 on and started to play 10NL.
i have read up on some stuff on FTR but havent tried to practice any of the ideas i have read about. i have been playing more often and starting to relearn how to play a more "pure" form of poker, play smart poker. Also throughout the past 3 weeks my friend has been trying to get me more committed to playing poker and learn more. i have a small view of odd's and i know only a little about implying them on the fly, and learn about multi lvl thinking play positions better when i am getting odds to call and to fold.
i grasp most of the basic stuff, but i have been more afraid of the daunting task of learning odds (sidenote. I am pretty smart but i am also a dropout of High School i havent had any schooling past really half of 9th grade). and that was 6 years ago or so around their, and i finaly just got my G.E.D. in OCT/06, and passed that with flying color's but in writeing, okay done with all that stuff and back to the poker.
So some stuff that doesnt seem so big to you guys is bigger to me then you, Please bare with me. -.- Past 3 weeks i have maintained my BR of $200 playing at 10NL, i would go up a couple of buy ins one day, then the next i would be down 3 or 4 buy ins, and the next day i would be back at $200 then i would go up, back down, even again thats been repeating for the past 3 weeks. and i feel i have been some of the best poker i have played in the past couple of years, i have gained discipline to wait for good hands and toss decent hands in certain positions and what type of lines i should play.
so far from what i have learned from others at FTR and watching people and how they play is a Tight/agro person is what i should strive for, and that makes good sense. Then their comes to tonight. I have done some deeper soul searching you could say, and finally came to terms with my self and playing poker. So i talked to my friend and he said that the BEST place to start is here at FTR. So here i am posting my Op for poker i think it is resonable for how much time i have to play poker.
Hit 100NL by Sept with a 2k Bank Roll, now i am ready and willing to study poker and be committed to stand by what i learn and play the smartest/best form of poker i can, morphing my way into tables to exploit and win as much as possible with using my to be learned skills with little of my BR on the line as possible if i can help it. hmm cant think of much else right now so ask anything you like i will try to be as open as i can. I hope you guys can help me out with as much info as possible i want to soak it in like white on rice. Thanks for reading my impossibly long post.
Peace. WM
