my goal this month was for 250 SNGs at 40 ITM and 20% ROI at multipoker.
But just recenetly i found 38 bucks at bodog and iv been playing the 6.50 turbos. Havnt been keeping track of those very well. All I kno is that its like Ninjaing money from a blind guy.

250 is soooo not a good enough goal.

i can get maybe 12 a day on average.

So itll be more like 360 a month.

PLus these turbos only take like half an hour, its teh sexy.

Depends...

If your making enough then i'd open a bank account called "Back to school money if poker fails" and fill it up, leave school and play full time..

School is very important because it can get you a great job.

If you already have a great job with poker then i'd set asside the money to go back to school in case things fail, and stick with poker.

Dont skip the goal just to follow the path, but dont leave yourself without any outs either

Just curious...what are your step goals? All SNG? some MTT's as well? Based off how much you can play and keeping with basic BR guidelines, what ROI's will you have to be hitting on the stakes? Just curious as I am setting up a similar goal and have been crunching some numbers in my offtime trying to keep it realistic and challenging at the same time...curious to see how you are planning it.

Thats a good question and as of now, I just plan on polaying really really goot. I am sooo close to the 20s right. SO close. When I get rakeback this month that should push me into the 20s easily. All i kno is that 40 hours a week, 8 tabling the 20s for 16% ROI and 25% rakeback is ~1.3k. I obviously cannot play 40 hours a week, and not 8 table becuase I dont have another 1600 1200 screen. We will see. This seems harder and harder the more I htink about it =D.

It will no doubt be incredibly hard, but if it wasn't it wouldn't be challenging and everyone would be doing it.

I am still trying to figure out my steps and final goal and timeframe, but I do know we will likely be on the same route money wise. As we are starting at the same area and want to make as much as possible. The only main difference is that I can truly only play 2-3 a day and maybe 6-8 a day on weekdays if I am lucky. Any more and I risk making the gf unhappy.

So the success of your venture is no doubt very interesting to me.

Are u single tabling?

I start one...about level 3 i start another..if i bust out early on either one of them I typically start another..but don't usually go past that. More of a time constraint than anything..and I haven't ventured past 2 tables at once.

If you can play 2-3 single tabling, you can play 4-6 two tabling, or 8-12 4 tabling. If your game wont suffer too much, you should multitable.

You would need a ridiculosuyl high ROI otherwise. One that I dont think is sustainable.

Yeah, but I will admit that I was out for a month and a half from Mono. The last week and the next few weeks are moreso to re-acclimate myself to the game and get into the groove. From then on I am sure I will be 2/3 tabling...and by then I should be back in the 20's.

I would consider either single/double tabling the 20's instead of quading until you are comfortable with the change in play. Not that big of a change but would be good to pay more attention to how everyone is playing.

I guess the big question is how much of your BR you are comfortable dropping before the upswing starts if it happens that way.


As far as your plans go, estimate a realistic ROI you would like to obtain for each of the stakes (10's,20's,30's,50's,etc)

And I assume your goals for each level would be to move up to the next level.

Then basically just do (Avgtourneysperday*(ROI% * buyin)

So from there you can subtract your BR from the next goal, and divide it by the average profit per day you will be expecting to get a reasonable timeframe...and then try to beat it.

So if I am starting today with say...600 bucks and I want to reach 1000 just off the 20 dollar tournaments, and I am planning on playing 8 a day, with a ROI of 25%

$22 * .25 * 8= $44 average profit per day
$1000-$600= $400
$400/$44=9.09

so ~10 days to get to 1000.

But that is truly best case scenario, 80 SNG's over that course in time wouldn't truly account for any real variance or downswings..just purely the math.

Unless I am horribly wrong in my calculations which is entirely possible.


I created a spreadsheet that allows me to put in my start date and my goals for each stake and ROI and it does the rest for me...



Anyways, I assume your minor goals will be advancing in levels up to a certain point, so plan for that first. If you are going to stick to the 30 buyin rule, don't forget to account for the vig. So 20's would be $660,30's would be $990 and so on. And other than the money and higher stakes....reward yourself if you make your goal in some fashion.

Again..unless my math sucks ass...

If you maintained a 10% ROI across all the stakes, and played 8 games a day on average...

And moved up levels everytime you got 30 buyins (990,1650,3270,6450) up to the 215's where you would grind out the rest of your goal (just picking a reasonable one)

You should reach 30k by 6/7/2006 which I believe is like 257 days.

This is of course under the assumption it is possible to maintain that ROI and that you meet the estimated time for each level jump on time...and that any downswings are cancelled out by a matching upswing.

So...it is definitely possible. IF you can maintain a consistent ROI.

Please poke holes in my estimations if you find a problem..as I am using the same model to set up my goals.

9/16/05 isn't too unreasonable, in fact i hope I can follow in your footsteps. I will have to shoot low in tourneys per day though to be reasonable...but 30k by the end of next year would hopefully be a reasonable goal. I will likely join in your quest.

You should be playing MTTs along side SnGs. Though your long term hourly rate probably falls short of the equivalent hourly rate for play your normal sngs, one big cash can help you skip an entire sng level (Like go from the 11s to the 33s) and this will help you make more money!

I'll race you guys. Current BR is $710 so I'm at least basically even with vqchuang and we both know gabe is a non-issue unless he sticks to playing MTTs with buy-ins of $3 or less.

i broke 700 bucks today. =D

still 4 tabling. I dont even kno man. Something is hitting me in the face or my game is just progressing. At one point at this one table i ahd more than half the chips on the bubble. Something is going right.

stay realistic, turning 1.4k into 30k is no easy feat. Unless you score some major tournament wins, cash/sng grinding takes a lot of time to climb that ladder

When you started playing 6-max I started out too. I just moved up to NL100, and I really feel I've come a long way. Seeing how far you have come playing 6-max the last months has surely been a big inspiration for me!
