Background:

This is my first operation thread. I haven't been getting through enough hands and staying motivated, so I'm hoping this thread will help. This will be a hybrid blog / hand discussion / strategy discussion.

Vitals:

The game is OMAHA HIGH and HI-LO. I'm hoping that with all the Texas Holdem threads, people might be interested in the 4 card game.

Bankroll is not an issue - I have over 300x buy ins for any stakes that I could consider playing. Most of it sits in my bank account doing something useful, but since it's money I've made playing poker I still consider it part of my "bankroll". My online funds are more than adequate to cover any short term variance

The story thus far:

I was away for 2 weeks during March, and had to catch up on university work after I returned. So I only played 8,400 hands during March...

Poker tracker tells me I'm -$890 in 400PLO, and -$480 in 100PLO, and +$770 in 200PLO, and winning at every level at HILO during March - my net result in March is a feeble +$136 (and $110 bonus cleared). A small sample size, but I've concluded that I'm going to stick to 200PLO and play in any HILO game from 100 through to 400. Personally I think HILO is my stronger game.

Goals:

25,000 hands. I have to balance university, dancing, teaching with my poker and I'll be really happy if I can get that many hands. Omaha is not a game where you can 8-table. VPIP is generally 25-30 (you can get away with 15-20 in Holdem) and you see more later streets, and you have to calculate odds more. Betting patterns matter a lot, so you really need to be following a hand through once you start playing it post flop.

NO TILT! Omaha is a really swingy game. There are lots more opportunities to get it all in, and a lot of the time when a lot of money is at stake, it's closer than 60-40. And in Omaha, tilt is really, really, really bad. So I'm really making a big effort to reduce the effects of tilt. I'm actually fairly good with emotional control at Holdem, but I have to get used to the swings in the action game.

PLAY TO MY STRONG SUITS. 200PLO, and all PLO8 games. 400PLO is just generally too hard for me.

UPDATE REGULARLY. Even when things aren't going so well I intend to force myself to be accountable.
