Had to work today... woke up at 8:30AM and didn't get any poker until a short session before dinner and a substantial session at night.
551 hands for +$452.40 today.
Aggregate stands at 20031 hands for $12424.55 + bonuses (400). I'm 80% of the way there! This is taking much longer than I thought it would. There just aren't enough games and I also have too much going on in my life to get 25,000 hands in a month like I hoped. I'm gunning for 30,000 hands before my wisdom teeth operation on 23 May, after which I'll be unfit for poker for a while, followed by exams to study for shortly afterwards, followed by a trip overseas I'm planning.
Someone tell me... study or poker? I know I will pass my exams no matter what I do. Is it worth sacrificing 10000 hands and getting 70s on my exams (even studying, I can't do much better than that in my law course), or just showing up with minimal study and getting about 55?
Today's session was quite swingy, and I think I played quite well. I think I ran about average for the most part. Thought a bit about how I'd play my draws in response to bigspenda's query and I seemed to play my draws well. Got my AAxx beat twice when I was shortstacking and put a heap of my stack in pre-flop. Not much you can do about that (the flop was 50-50 give or take a few percent, which is naturally fine for me getting 2-1 on my money). Took a beat which I posted above where I put it in with NFD+nut low draw and got beat by a fish. On the other hand I did win a 55-45 for a $600 pot which was nice.
Gotta stop being results oriented and just keep playing good, which I basically did. If I put in the hands and keep playing well, the results will look after themselves. I've played enough and made enough money to know that!!
Here's a hand where I got outplayed or just cold decked. One of my last hands of the night, as I decided I was cooling off and tiring so I went to sleep. You be the judge - value bet river? I was fortunate my opponent was an idiot who didn't stick the rest in on the river.
