Operation: Christmas Break

    Default Operation: Christmas Break

I've decided that over my ~26 day Christmas break from school I want to make at LEAST (not limited to) $1,500. Devoting at least 5 hours a day to poker, 4 tabling 50NL full ring.

I assumed a 10bb/100 (is this ok?) and an average of 70 hands per hour.

    70 hands x 4 tables = 280 hands an hour
    280 hands per hour x 5 hours = 1400 hands a day

    10bb/100 = 140bb per session or $70

At this rate it would take me 21.4 days to complete my goal. If I assume I have 25 days to play, I need to make an average of +$60 a day. So somewhere in the range of $60-$70 needs to be made each day.

To add to this I've started a side goal of using bonuses to add to this money (view thread here)

Anyone have any input on any of this? Is this worthwhile?

10bb/100 seems reachable but high - as a target it might prove slightly too much. Also, 70 hands an hour at full ring? I guess you know best, but certainly none of the tables I've played at (at $50 and £25) have been that fast - indeed some of the £ tables get below 40.

My understanding is that $50 is a bit of a rockfest. I am sure you know how to play these tables, but I'd have thought it was a bit more of a grindfest than a pwn-worthy 10bb/100 would indicate.

Having said all that, I don't doubt for a minute you'll make it Good luck fella!

Addendum: with the bonuses I think you'll be fine.

I'm not a full ring player, so after reading your post I gave stars a quick look and most full 9 man tables are 50-80 hands per hour, so maybe 70 isn't the best estimate but its rough enough I hope. I've also been told that 50NL on some of these smaller sites I'm going to isn't anywhere near as hard as 50NL on Stars/Party but I can easily make 10bb/100 playing 2-3 6max 50NL tables so I'm hoping the same can hold true at the full tables. Thank you for your input

I can't quite see the logic in the smaller sites being easier than Party (I might be wrong, I have very little experience of $50 full stop). Surely Party is the ne plus ultra of fishiness? Or does this very fact attract the sharks to an extent that you'd rather stay away?

    Go edudlive!!!

We've talked some in another forum about what bonuses you should chase during this break.

Well, here's some NEW math to go with the above math.
    280 hands per hour
    X 5 hours per day
    X 26 days
    _________________
    = 36,400 hands played.
If 40% are raked hands, that's 14,560 Raked Hands.

Most bonuses requre +/- 10x raked hands to clear.
    So: 14,560 / 10 = 1,456.

    THEREFORE:
If you jump from bonus to bonus the whole break, you should clear $1,456.00 in bonuses!!!

One buy-in profit per day (average) is $1,300. Add bonuses and you should be at $2,750-ish.

If you take the bonuses seriously, you stand to have a VERY profitable break. I vote that you DOUBLE your goal!!

    So when is day 1?

Lots of the smaller sites have a huge number of fish in the pool. Many were originally sportsbook sites that recently added poker. Your average player is a knucklehead who just won $800 on football, and thinks some poker sounds like fun.

All I can say to those numbers is

My last final is on Friday the 16th at around 1pm. If I can get home in time to hit the bank and set up my bank account for poker (as per request of my mom, to keep better track of things rather than using my regular account) then the bonuses start as soon as Neteller verifies me and allows me to deposit. Up until then I'll just have to grind out as much as possible on PokerStars to make up for the possible delay. How long does Neteller usually take in the verification process?

Expect a week to get Neteller setup. You have to enter your info, wait for their deposit to hit your bank account so that you can enter the amount they deposited, talk to them on the phone, and then wait for $$ to come from your bank account for free (don't use the instacash option since it's like a 8.9% fee).

Unless you plan on withdrawing a lot of money to your bank account, Neteller will do all the tracking that you need. I'd get the ball rolling with it now and use your existing account.
  10. #10
    I agree with Ahiltz.

Go ahead and get Neteller set up now.

You can load it from your current account to get it going, then switch it to your new account later. (I also opened a poker-only checking account...got a free George Forman Grill from the bank too).

Neteller will verify your account in 72 hours if you just want to set it up and leave it UNloaded until you get your new account set up. You CAN use it the same day you open it, but, as Ahiltz said, they'll charge your 8.9%!

Well, I'm not withdrawing money from Stars to start off with. Let me elaborate more.

I had $150 on Royal Vegas, I cashed this out through a friend and my mom has it right now. When I go home I will use this to start my bank account and link to Neteller. I had planned (since this is how I understand it) that I could use this newly formed union to deposit a small sum of money (say $50) onto Stars for the sole purpose of then being able to withdraw the larger sum of money into my Neteller account (NOT into my bank account) to be moved around various sites.

If I get charged 8.9% on the small deposit, I really don't care (thats like, $4.25). Will I also be charged for pulling funds into the Neteller account (not to be deposited into the bank account) while my bank account is unverified?

I am unable to set up Neteller with my current bank account as I'm off at college and I can't answer my home phone to verify the account (and they would not allow me to use my mobile for some reason...I'm guessing because my mobile is a Texas phone # and my home phone and address are in Arkansas (I live on the border))

Does this change how you guys look at it?

You're good to go, bro. Load up the $50, pay the fee, and then drop in as much cash as you like from Stars for free. Sounds like a man with a plan.

There aren't any fees into/out of poker-sites from Neteller (actually there are, but the poker-sites pay it).

You in Texarkana, edudlive? I'm British but that's where my girlfriend is from (the Arkansan side )!

I am *still* trying to sort Neteller out after 13 days, but that's my incompetence, not theirs. Why didn't I just stick to (UK) credit cards...

Um, nothing yet - I keep forgetting to let Neteller know that they deposited £0.xx in my bank account! Though it took me several days of staring dumbly at the PC screen to realise I hadn't finished the labrynthine application process...

(I only openeed the bloody thing to bank my $50 review money from FTR )

    Well, it started yesterday (kinda)

    Day 1 (Dec. 16):

I finished my final exams at 11:30 AM and after the packing and long drive, got home about 4PM and got my new bank account set up, as well as Neteller (awaiting the deposits of a few cents from them, they said BY MONDAY). I was so tired from lack of food, sleep, and just the overall near mental exhaustion from finals that I didn't play (it would have been so -EV).

    Day 1 (Dec. 17):
Still no deposits from Neteller, so I sat at 100NL 6max on stars (2-3 tables) doing my normal game to make up for the lost time. After under 300 hands, I was up $87 (bad beat, bad call, and a poorly played AA hand** that left a lot of this one fish's money on the table cost me some $$ but it ended well) and just decided to wait until later tonight for the real fish to be on to play anymore.

    +$87
    +about 29BB/100 (non-PT)
+only 2 tables for most of the time, my 3rd table fizzled after a few hands and I left in order to play the other too looser tables

    So good so far!

** He was calling people's river bets with Q high and the like when they raised PF and bet all the way down, and I had seen him call worse bets than mine, but I still think that I should have value bet and took as much as I could, that hand cost me about $20 considering its money I could have taken--I think he was drunk from the night before

    Day 3:

Today was horrible, it started off well, me being up like $40 then it all went down hill, beat after beat culminating into the one I posted in "It's All Bad"

After that I took half an hour off, and started again. I brought up four 100NL 6max tables and went at a semi-laggy game (edudlive <3s the button) and came back from over a $200 loss, to end up +$93 for the day after some nice moves and good cards

    So far,
+180 (a little ahead of schedule)

    Today:
    +$93
    1200 hands
    7.75bb/100 (non-PT)

I'm watching this thread, edudlive. Nice comeback yesterday!

So you're still at Stars, right? Hopefully today you get Neteller certified, and can start moving your money for bonussssssss casssshhhh.

Party's next? What's your plan? You may clear the Party bonus in as quickly as one day (7x soooo easy). Super quick 4 hr Neteller cashout and you're ready to fire again on another bonus. To crush the bonuses, you'll likely be signing up /moving money every day or two. PM me if you have questions about where to go / how to sign up for multiple skins on the same computer...ANYTHING!!

Neteller has verified my bank account, I'm waiting on them to call me back right now

First bonus is party. Going through Poker Source Online for the 6k points and its a 20% up to $100 with only 250 raked hands (amount of rake must be 0.01, and they're counting a raked hand was rake/number of players dealt in...but that shouldn't change much at 25/50/100NL) I should be done in NO TIME

    And then...........?

You don't have to spell it all out for me, edudlive...just be conscious of how QUICK these things will clear at your level of play / time commitment...that you'll pick up a new site every day probably.

And it sukks to just randomly jump on a new site only to find out the next day that you could have used a better bonuscode, or got PSO-like kickbacks somewhere.

So in your daily posts, include what your next two ideas are...give us a chance to re-steer you if necessary.

    Updated2:

Got Neteller sorted out, deposited onto Stars and get told I have to wait 48 hours to cashout funds since my last deposit!! They're seriously TRYING to screw me over (rigg3d)

Plans over the next few days:
Deposit $750 onto Party Poker signing up through pokersourceonline.com (20% up to 100$...250 raked hands) and clear that in a few hours, then cash out and deposit onto Poker Room (40% up to 200$ for 400 Player Points) and get to work on that (something like 1200 hands at 50NL). Then use 10,000 of my PokerSourceOnline Points to get a $100 Party Poker gift cert....not sure what to use the other 8k points for.

    What site should be third?

    Good options:

    EmpirePoker, MultiPoker, InterTops --
Same bonus as Party...smaller selection of tables...slightly tighter play. IT support SUKKKKKS. You need to REGEDIT to sign up for multiple skins on one computer.

Paradise Poker: $100. Clears similar to Party at NL$50 and up.

Bet365 to give Prima a try. Must play NL$50.

    Bodog: Bottomless bonus, easy players.

WATCH OUT For: Pacific. If you play Pacific, you won't be able to get the juicy $200 Casino-On-Net bonus. Do CON first!!

DreamLand Poker. Russian B2B site playes in Euros. But it's 50 Euros for just 100 Raked hands !! 2x!!

    That's just starters.......

Bonus Whores says, Empire doesn't like whores (deposit, meet requiremnt, cash-out). They like to shut your account down. Any truth to this? I've been wanting to get money in there, but I don't want to lock out $500-$600 of my roll that I can't withdraw for fear of Empire getting suspicious.

No worries there. They might be a tad less generous than Party, but I've only played there for bonuses, and probably gotten 8 or 10 of them to date. Never had any problem. All I ever do there is deposit/meet requirement/cashout. Nothing to fear.

You have to learn how to read BW. It seems like there are a LOT of people there who write that they got spanked for whoring...when they really got banned for serious infractions (multiple accounts in one household, etc).

My cashout came through in under 12 hours (rather than the 72 it said) so now I'm waiting on some info for rakeback at party. If I get an email before too late tonight I'll clear Party today.

    Profits so far:

    180$+$128 ($128 yesterday in like 300 hands at 100NL 6max) is 308$ or $77 a day (not counting today)

Finished the 500 raked hands at party, but even with the bonus I left down $70

I lost stacks to AK vs my AA all in preflop, Ace high flush vs runner runner straight flush, set vs set on the flop, KK vs QQ, and a flopped nut straight with a gutshot SF draw vs two pair that rivered a boat

I was only down $40 until right after I cleared the bonus, when the set vs set came on my last hand before I was leaving.

    I deposited $750 I left with $673

ouch edud, thats some nasty stuff
Sink, 25NL is difficult to whore at. If you took the 50nl full ring at quite a few sites then you will probably be able to whore quite succesfully. Of course, you dnt want to be playing with scared money.

I don't necessarily agree, Miffed. I started whoring at NL$25, and did just fine, myself. There are fewer Party skins now, but I would bet that Sink has SEVERAL unexploited Party&Co bonuses right in front of him to grab.

Sink, with $1000, it's time to start thinking about WHEN you'll be moving up anyway. But if you need bonus advice for NL$25, just PM me anytime, or start a thread, and make sure I'm directed to it.

But don't hijack this thread...we're all here to check in with edudlive's success. GO EDUDLIVE!

But don't hijack this thread...we're all here to check in with edudlive's success. GO EDUDLIVE!
