Default Operation: Dolla Dolla Bill's Yall

    Hello everyone.

I started playing online poker around November. During this time I did the traditional noob circle of death and probably donked off around 300 bucks. "a lot of money to an idiot in college such as myself" Around December I discovered FTR, and learned a lot about BR management. Grinder school was also a great help, and I learned craploads. I would definitely recommend Grinder school to anyone starting poker. With all this new information I profitably played my way up to 50NL with a BR of about 1300. Unfortunately college semester money was due and I was forced to give up my roll to pay the help pay the bill.

Now that its spring break I've had some time to play poker and figure its a good time to start grinding a roll for the summer so I don't have to get a crappy job serving grease or stocking shelves.

On to the interesting stuff. I think I play a lot different than most people building a roll in the microlimits. I probably play fairly looser and more passive simply because I feel that I'm sitting next to maniacs most of the time.

Opinions? I know its very very very exploitable, but I feel that it works at these limits where people only 3bet AKo, QQ+, rarely JJ

I read at grinderschool that Bigspenda had to withdraw most of his roll and eventually built it back up to be rolled for 100NL. I want to duplicate this by around Mid to Late May. I figure I'm going to put in craploads of hands and stay disciplined but I think I can do it if I push myself when I get the free time. I still have craploads to learn however and hope to relearn this game at the tables. Hopefully by the time I get back to 25NL I'll be playing better.

Things I need to work on are..
    1. Tighten up preflop as I move up.
    2. Trust my reads, when I think I'm ahead call and when I know I'm beat fold (especially when I need to prove myself that my read was right)
3.Continue to assign ranges every hand.
    4. Don't tilt.
    5. Write my thoughts and review my HH after every few sessions.
    6. Reduce my C-bet%. I could get away with C-betting about 80% of hands in 2-5NL but I have a feeling that shit wont fly in back in 10NL so I wanna reduce that to about 55-60% and picking the right spots to do so.

    See you at the tables.

Reducing your c-bet % might not be a great idea.

I ran 18/15 with a flop AF of 9 over 10k hands at 10nl. That's all my experience at the limit, but c-bets were where it was at for me.
    Check out my self-deprecation here!

Ya its more about learning when not to c bet for me.
Some times its just not profitable.

    Interesting/ Funny hands

This one is just awesome. Theres nothing you can do but laugh when this shit happens.

I put both villains on TP or FD. MP guy could have aces but C'est la vie if he does.

I'd really like opinions on this hand. Overall I think I played it pretty bad.
His donk into me screams FD or set and when he just calls my raise I add in TP and meh when he bets on the turn. I know its a fold or a shove I think flat calling here would be god awful.

So after my adventure back into 10NL FR I decided to screw around a little shortstacking 10NL 6 max. It was pretty interesting and it was kinda funny seeing the uncertainty due to me shortstacking.

Well finally rolled for 100bb 10NL after screwing around with 60BB 10NL, which I have to admit probably helped my game more then it hurt it. I tightened up my stats to about a 19/11/1.7 So I'm playing a little more aggressive and tighter as I move up in stakes and will probably continue to do so until I get back up to 50NL.

Umm this was a WTF hand. Slowplayed KK went through my mind but I figured if hes got KK, its a wicked bad cooler and I'm just gonna have to pay him off.

Wow I suck. Combine that with running bad and wow I suck.

Ok maybe not so much but getting outdraw in huge pots does nothing for the confidence.

Villain was 3 betting frequently and calling shoves with AJ+, 33+
Unfortunately he had AA this time

I really dont consider any of these bad beats. Actually I probably outplayed myself in most of these pots. That or variance which is something you gotta give and take so C'est la vie. Back to shortstacking 10NL

I feel this chart is pretty good representation on why people need to practice BR management. Downswings kill...umm ouch

Thankfully I managed to turn +1 into -8 back to -3 which isn't horrible considering the way the middle of the day went

Mixed it up today after playing some SNG's cause I need a break from cash.

Broke even over 69 SNGs I hear thats pretty standard so I guess I'm pretty happy about that considering the way I've been playing lately.

Hooray back at 25NL FR. No more 6 max no more high variance style of play. I'm back to my true comfort zone.

    Interesting hands

This might be a really bad play seeing as how his min raises screams "I HAVE THE FLUSH!!!!!" Unfortunately I don't like laying down top set so ship it. This might become a problem later on.

This hand is pretty sick. I think I have to shove here because "assuming hes not a complete fish" I would check raise an OESD or a strong FD and definitely a combo draw as well as a set. Of course me being an idiot is still willing to stack off TPTK on a drawy board and unfortunately again I did not think he would defend his BB with what he did.

Wow what wild few days it's been. Since I won those 4.40's my 25NL play has been great. Poker EV tells me I'm running right where I should be so thats great to know. Running about 7.7ptBB/100

That being said I've logged about 6.5k hands in 2 days and there's been a fair few tricky spots that I've been that have mostly likely to be flips on the flop but me being the nit I am elected to fold. Hold on lemme find one.

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (9 handed) Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    UTG+1 ($25.50)
    MP1 ($24.95)
    MP2 ($9.85)
    MP3 ($26.05)
    CO ($26.60)
    Button ($8.15)
    SB ($11.10)
    Hero ($30.30)
    UTG ($54.20)

Preflop: Hero is BB with K, K.
5 folds, CO calls $0.25, Button calls $0.25, 1 fold, Hero raises to $1.5, CO calls $1.25, Button folds.

    Flop: ($3.35) J, 7, 6 (2 players)
Hero bets $3, CO raises to $8.25, Hero folds.

    Final Pot: $9.35

I was a very likely flip but I can't be sure what this idiot is limp calling anywhere from, Low PP's QJo+,A-r+, A-Rs.

I didn't like the idea that I was either likely flipping or drawing dead. So I'm a nit and I folded.

So after running fairly bad and playing fairly bad as well I'm going to give cash a short break and play a couple of MTT's this for the rest of the week. It should be fair fun just to switch it up a little and the play is so awful at the micro MTT's I dont think this will be -EV.

Haven't updated in awhile so heres some hands.

Heres a great spot to slow play on the flop. We have the likely nuts and villain is likely drawing dead or to 1 out.

Poker Stars, $0.10/$0.25 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 8 Players

    UTG+1: $23.60
    MP1: $18.80
    MP2: $25.60
    CO: $4.65
    BTN: $9.45
    SB: $63.55
    Hero (BB): $29.85
    UTG: $26.50

    Pre-Flop: A A dealt to Hero (BB)
UTG folds, UTG+1 raises to $0.75, 3 folds, BTN calls $0.75, SB folds, Hero raises to $3.50, UTG+1 calls $2.75, BTN folds

    Flop: ($7.85) 5 T A (2 Players)
Hero bets $4, UTG+1 raises to $10, Hero calls $6

    Turn: ($27.85) 2 (2 Players)
Hero checks, UTG+1 bets $10.10 and is All-In, Hero calls $10.10

    River: ($48.05) Q (2 Players - 1 is All-In)

    Results: $48.05 Pot ($2.30 Rake)

Villain unknown. He is unlikely to float me with AJ, KJ, QJ. He either has a 4 here or a spade draw or air. I don't think he'd min-raise the turn with a 4.
