Default Operation: Don't feel like shit all of the time

There are 12 full days of the year left, and one of those is Christmas. I feel like shit all of the time because I eat like shit and don't get any exercise. At the beginning of the year, I'll take on euphoricism in a month-long bet outlined in this thread and I want to crush his fucking soul because of this line: "If you win it'll be by 40 hours tops".

I'll be able to crush his soul much harder if I don't feel like shit all of the time, so I'm going to use the next 12 days to get into a routine of non-poker stuff that will help me in that area. Basically, I want to get in the habit of doing certain things so that I'll be more likely to stay in the habit of doing those things in January. Here are a list of things for me to keep in mind:

[ ] Get out of bed before 8 am
[ ] Daily yoga shit for my back
    [ ] I own a treadmill
    [ ] Caffeine is bad
[ ] Eating regularly is good

Do some real running, like a man. Outside. Where the air is pure. Not on a treadmill.

caffine isn't really that bad. Try something like hot tea.

    That's a baby pic right?

Five portions of fruit + veg a day = Good.
If you have some back problems yoga = good, Osteo = goooot. If you don't have an osteopath I totally recommend it. Also depending on your back problems, go easy on the running, it's not great for joints, back problems etc.
    7 hrs + sleep a night = good.

Everything went well Saturday for the most part. I only got in about 5 hours of play, but I spent a considerable amount of time working on a handful of projects of mine. One of these projects is an AHK script on steroids to let me play on PokerStars with a Playstation 2 controller. I'll have a thread about that once I'm finished.

just make sure you eat healthy (this means no fast food and snack bars but actual real food) and do 1 hour of solid intense exercise 3x a week and you should be a rather healthy person. It is also important to have a daily sleeping routine, if you want to wake up at 8 every morning then don't sleep past midnight

light ammounts of caffeine isn't that bad, but too much caffeine is bad.
My blog/operation where ill gladly discuss all my poker thoughts/hands etc, all welcome: http://www.flopturnriver.com/pokerfo...os-192003.html

    Caffeine ---> not bad.

    Soda containing caffeine --> bad.

Try coffee, or tea for your caffeine fix... not soda.

Best of luck! Thanks for reminding me part of the reason I probably h$ave been feeling like crap recently is lack of exercise.

I generally agree with this. I can see using the treadmill on occasion, but run outside as much as possible. No substitute for running trails in the woods, in cold weather, near a lake, etc. Unfortunately, I haven't been running in a while and am posting in this thread partly as a self motivating measure - I definitely need to get back to running regularly.

sounds like a good plan dude.

personally i find doing things with other people helps because you motivate each other.

i used to find when i had planned to go to the gym/mountain bike etc with someone i wouldnt be a lazy arse because i wouldnt let the other person down.

    best of luck.

For most of the day I had a lot of pain in my upper back up through my neck and the back of my head. It was random but it fucking sucked. All I wanted to do was sleep, but I went to the grocery store in the late afternoon/early evening and while standing in line at the cashier I turned my head to the left a little to glance at the people behind me and my neck popped weird and it was like all that tension was just gone immediately. That was like really weird. Not long after that our power went out randomly, so I only played like an hour and a half yesterday lololol.

Yeah and shoulder injuries also. These combine to give me some pretty crazy tension in my neck at times.

you need to see a chiropractor imo (get a referral from someone)
  21. #21
Yes, I just realized I was high or something when I recommended an osteopath, I'm a dick. I obviously meant a chiropractor. Your symptoms are exactly what they exist for. Also if you have postural problems consider Alexander technique.

To relieve tension in the neck and improve posture there are a number of things you can try. A really easy one is to lay on your back with your knees up and your head on a book (about an inch thick, no more than two). This helps to lengthen the muscles in your neck. Give it a go, it really helped me. I have a bunch of these so if you find that one helpful give me a shout.

IMO chiropractors fix symptoms. I.e., in this case they could make your sore back feel good. What they dont do is fix underlying problems. Like if your backs sore because your muscles are out of balance and its pulling your back out of alignment then they'll put it back into alignment, but the muscle imbalance is still there so eventually the symptoms come back.

Separating your collar bone from your shoulder and having some dumb ass in the emergency room read an X-ray and say it's just bruised and send you home with Tylenol when you're 16 doesn't help either.

I broke my knee, and one of the doctors said it was a sprain, thankfully another one had a brain.

Wrestling tournament. One of my shoelaces worked out from under the tape and tripped me up during an escape. The weight of both my opponent and I fell from nearly standing straight onto my shoulder. I think I blacked out for a moment but I don't remember very clearly.

But I finished that match (and won), and wrestled three more matches before going to the hospital to get an x-ray. I would have won all three if it wasn't for a retarded referee not giving me back points, but I got third so whatever.

Fun fact: the match before that I wrestled a blind guy.

Hey man, I think you answered you own question in your first post. I recently started seeing a muscular-skeletal specialist after going through PT to realign my lumbar and open hip capsules. Adding YOGA and full series of stretching exercises. Mckenzie lumbar support rolls in chair and car. My Chevy has a lumbar support in the seat that I have set to MAX. Caffeine is my last vice besides women so I'm keeping it just in moderation. Sure helps sitting at the computer and really helps at the live table.
    Peace,
