    Default Operation LHE

    Original name, no?

Anyways, time to start a new operation, concerning my new game of choice, LHE. I feel that I need to set goals as it will keep me from going off course and doing silly things. So here's my plan of action.

22 Oct 2005: Begin playing .5/1 LHE on PartyPoker, with $333.

    31 Nov 2005: 20,000 hands of .5/1 played, $600 profits. Pay stakers back for $415 total. Bankroll = $518.

    10 Dec 2005: 25,000 hands of .5/1 played, bankroll = $650. Move up to 1/2.

    01 Jan 2006: 11,000 hands of 1/2 played, bankroll = $1,000.

    10 Jan 2006: 15,500 hands of 1/2 played, bankroll = $1,200. Move up to 2/4.

    01 Feb 2006: 10,000 hands of 2/4 played, bankroll = $2,000. Move up to 3/6.

    20 Feb 2006: 10,000 hands of 3/6 played, bankroll = $3,000. Move up to 5/10.

    Unrealistic? Maybe. A challenge? Definitely!

I'll give this my best shot and hope I don't go on any bad downswings. I'll update every so often.

Here's the graph that tells all, updated hourly:

Good to have goals. I would set goals more of hands played and then reevaluate what level you should be playing at when you hit your hands played mark. You can't really set money goals (or at least such specific ones) because you can't help the variance.

I just found this post. Dwarfman, I'm going to compete with you... I'm going to be starting a 2 days later, but I'll do my best to catch you. More to come.

You're numbers don't look right from week to week, or month to month. I'm going to try and play 500 hands a day or at least 2,500 a week (sorry, fulltime job with a good bit of late hours) and move up whenever I hit 300BB at the next buy in level- and drop back down whenever I'm only 400BB at the previous level.

I'd say there's no way you can move up a limit every 10,000 or even 20,000 hands. Especially considering even the best players lose money over that number, and my last 10,000 at PP .5-1 I broke almost even (even though I'm hardly good). I'm fairly confident the 1-2 is only slightly less textbook than .5-1 or less, but the 2-4 players are getting much better.

I'm assuming I can beat the .5/1 game for 3 BB/100 and every other game for 2 BB/100.

Although I agree that downswings will be inevitable, I'll probably be changing the target dates to coincide with downswings.

Good luck, and let the games begin!

    Ha! Yes, that's me.

Are you Rubix13? That's the only name similar to yours that I have in my database.

Yep, although I'm in CST time, so I doubt our paths will cross much considering the time difference. I think I'm going to be playing this much much slower due to a lack of free time, but it'll be nice to have someone to run a goal with.

Once I hit $3k I plan to return to tourneys.

    Or maybe 5/10 LHE.

Well I'm almost through a week on this operation, and everything is going smoothly.

I'm way ahead of schedule in terms of hands played, and I'm on schedule to meet the first goal in terms of profits, with my BB/100 being 3.21, and to meet the goal I need to maintain at least 3 BB/100.

Let's hope I can keep this up.

Have you discovered a staking loophole?

<Unnamed_Staker>: As part of the arrangement, you agree to pay me back in full plus interest on a specified date.
<dwarfman>: OK, I will pay you back on November 31.

    I am being staked twice.

One isn't too fussed about payback date, as long as it isn't like 2 years later.

The other would like his money back before 31st December.

Congrats on your progress so far, keep it up!

The downside is that I guess we won't be seeing any new NL SnG videos for a while, huh? I will be ready and waiting for my two table SnG video the day you get back to NL tourneys ...

Good luck dwarf. I hear that many good NL players have success stories after switching to limit.

    Thank you!

Going good so far. Just went past the 7.5k hand milestone and I'm at +2.6 BB/100 with only one significant downswing and one very minor one.

Added the graph that tells all to the top of the post.
  20. #20
slow down bro.... you're killing me with 2x as many hands played... and I've been playing my ass off. How'd you make that fancy graph?
  21. #21
i've been running real good (thank mr. sklansky, mr malmuth, and mr miller).

Care to make this semi-interesting dwarfman?

A prize to who ever has the best BB/100 at 10k, 20k, etc hands transfered into a pokerstars account (natually you'll have to wait for me )?

PM me if you want so we keep it out of the fourm just in case, but I'm thinking very small wager, maybe a turbo buy-in.....

Natural variance has finally hit me hard... 80 BB downswing and counting. Graph updated

I need to re-think this challenge, as I just inadvertently made $550 playing the Dwarfy NL Ring Challenge while on a short break from LHE (due to variance destroying confidence temporarily).
  27. #27
does that explain the huge spike in your bankroll... 'cause I'm pretty sure $600 from 9,000 hands of .5-1 is pretty much impossible

I've been itching to see if I can build a roll from $50 playing PStars NL ring and I just found your challenge today. I think I might try to succeed doing that or bust my Stars roll in the process.
