OPERATION: monies and life management.
Hey, Ive been a member here at FTR for a few months now and I think its about time i made one of these operation threads.
On thursday im off to university which will be preety life changing, with poker being my main form of income to keep me afloat during the next 3 years. Thus I feel now is a good as time as any to create one of these operation threads to motivate myself to play more poker and treat it as a proper job rather than just a hobby. Hopefully this added motivation will rub off on other facets of my life so im no longer such a lazy bastard.
I just read ISF's newest operation thread and it really hit home how many of the problems he has apply to myself to, I also have a bad problem with tilting, ive improved alot in the time ive been playing poker but on certain days I will play very sloppily and drop a few buyins through pure tilt, In months previously ive even taken retarded shots at higher stakes, thankfully something i havnt done in months and shall not do again.
Another poker aim is to become more motivated and play more hands, ive only been taking poker seriously as a form of income for the last 2 months, though I have been playing on and off for over a year. Last month I played 25k hands 8 tabling and that was what i consider a heavy month volume wise...yeah I know im a volume noob .
I also want to improve the structure in my life, at the moment I have very little structure at all, I do things when I want to, which has led to me basically putting off everything, from small jobs to very important things like exams till the last minute. Thankfully I havnt learnt a harsh lesson yet as my cramming abilities and being able to do things quickly have been my saving grace. However in uni this has to stop if i want to get a good degree as well as juggling poker and my social life with it.
Aim 1: Get motivated and play more poker, a minimum of 20k hands per month starting next month.
Aim 2: Get motivated and do jobs when they need doing, rather than at the last minute, with this specifically applying to my schoolwork.
Aim 3: control tilt, dont multitask whilst playing so the tables have my full concentration, dont play when tired/drunk.
So basically this op thread is gonna document my poker success and life from day to day resulting in me hopefully getting a grip and doing some fucking work!
My next post will cover the poker side of things a little more.
