    Default Operation Realizing My Potential

Since I don't really have a blog or anything to post whats on my mind, I figured I'd track my progress here. I set a goal for myself of 63k (see day 1) in March 06. This is a pretty large number, but I really feel it is something I can reach.

Putting this up in a public forum gives me some motivation to know that if I fail people will know. I'll make a post every night before I go to bed and update my progress. I start tomorrow on the first!

What limits are you playing? Will you be sticking to NL Hold'em or a combination of games? Will you be playing at only 1 site? Are you counting bonuses or pure profit? What's your starting roll?

I'm a nl holdem cashgame player, and I'll stick to playing that. I mostly play 2-4nl and 5-10nl on ipoker, but I will look to move into 10-20nl games that look good. It is possible I'll play in some big Sunday tournies, and I'm not expecting a big cash to reach this goal. I'll be playing mostly on ipoker and a bit on partypoker. I'm not counting rakeback in this, and no site gives any meaningful bonuses compared to a 60k goal. My starting roll is over 50k.

Is the 250k a long-term goal? When do you hope to hit it by? How many hands/hours are you putting in?

Good luck though. I think 60k (profit right?) in March is doable if you put in enough time.

I don't. It'd be nice to see I was wrong though. Good luck.

Good luck doggz, 2k a day is an impressive goal if achieved.

It is/was my 2006 goal. It's there because of the 250k club.

2k a day seems reasonable check my math here please this is all rough, I just was thinking about it and felt like going over it with a calculator rather than it keeping me up.

ok at 5/10nl if you make 7.5BB/100, 4 tabling, 40 hands per hour on the table, so thats 160 hands per hour thats $240 an hour, 8 hours a day = $1920

pulled a buncha number from nowhere but at least now I(and maybe doggz if this was a route he was planning on) have a rough estimate of what it takes to make 2k a day.

Can that be done long term at 1000NL?

I wouldn't say so. I heard Ilikeaces talking about the best of the best making 6BB/100 before.

I'm running way over 6bb/100 after about 15k hands at ipoker

Thats a good run, I'd be interested to see where you are at about 50k hands. Give us an update.

Good luck. 15k hands is nothing. i was running at 15ptBB/1oo for about 30-40k hands during the winter. 5ptBB would be really had at PP I heard but iPoker is a bit easier so that should be doable there.

If you even get to 30k you get my respect. Just put in the hours bud.

lollerskates 15k hands. Over my last 15k hands i've run at about 13ptbb/100 at a game where 5ptbb/100 is good. I'm sure you are capable of doing this but its gonna take you a good 10 hours a day to do it.

When I say bb/100 I'm not talking ptbb. This is no limit, there is no such thing as big bets.
  18. #18
    I calculated using big bets.

    Day 1
    Day: -$3,100
    Total: -$3,100

I still have the night to play, but this afternoon was ridiculous. Every time I had 2 pair I was counterfitted, every large pot I was in I got drawn out in. I literally got sick to my stomach and had to go get something to eat.

I'm just going to consider my goal as 63K for the month and forget this last hour and a half ever happened.

    Day 1

    Day: -$3,400
    Total: -$3,400

More of the same during the evening, but I cut my session short so I could get some sleep, I feel my play was generally very good, but the cards were not working for me. In ten hands that I played all in (or called) before the river, I was ahead in 8 out of 10, but won 0 out of 10.

Guess I'll just wait for my upswing.

    Day 2

    Day: $2,450
    Total: -$950

Today started exactly how yesterday ended. I was losing every hand possible and I was getting frustrated. ilikeaces stopped by and pretty much gave me a thousand, and the rest of the night went well. If it wasn't for the 2 huge 80/20s I have lost thus far, I'd be up about $3k. Still, that would be behind my goal, but I haven't put enough time in yet. I'll have to make up for this later in the month.

Also, tomorrow I'll be gone visiting friends at college. So I won't be playing. Another setback, but life comes first.

Want to go into more detail on this - was this part of the heads up stuff you 2 were talkin about earlier in the possessed thread?

He was playing at my 5/10nl table and donked off a buyin. That is all

    Day 5

    Day: -$150
    Total -$1100

Ok, maybe this will be harder then I guessed. Right now, I'm just not putting enough hours in. That will change, and I'll make sure it does. Even so, I'm going to have too snap out of this downswing if I have any hope of making my goal.

Today I also played the Big Sundays, Because of the large field size, I don't really think it's fair to consider them in this Operation. Even 52 entries in the 6000 player Stars field would produce wildly inacturate results. I will post my Tourny buyin/winnings at the end of the month for consideration.

Outside that, I don't have much to say. The cards are not falling my way and there is nothing I can do about it. What I do need to do is stay consistant in my play and put at least 8 hours in per day.

I so feel like I'm grinding my wheels right now. I can't catch a break or hit anything at all. This isn't amusing at all.

Very slim chance I can catch up after this disaster of a week.

Comon DoGGz dont give up so easily! Put in more hours and more hours till you make up for this week.

How I'm not down a few thousand today is beyond me. I was actually up about 1.5k until the last hour. I played for a solid 9 hours on top of that. Here are just a few of the hands I lost today. The board is shown when we got it all in. I bet/raised the pot the whole way on these hands.

AQ vs AK - AQ2 board
    55 vs A3 - A52 board
    77 vs KJ - 57JK board
    43s vs 77 - 25s 36 board
    KK vs 44 - Q623 board
    77 vs 9t - 783 board

If you wonder why I was going crazy in IRC, well, only so much I can take before I go crazy.

    Oh shit, I forgot one.

    AQ vs Q8o - AQ6 board.

Guess how I lost this one. $1000 pot also

That is rough dawg. Keep your head straight and put in more hours. the variance sometimes so evil will even up, but only if you play, a lot.

I'm down 3k on the day right now. I can not get this unlucky forever. I will not give up

EDIT: I need to average about 2.8k per day to finish this challenge. This is possible I know it is. I will finish this challenge.

Keep working hard. Just because you set a goal for youself and you don't reach it doesn't mean that you have failed. Alot of times the journey is what is most importants and although you may not end up where you wanted to be, you'll learn quite a bit along the way.

    Today: +$2150

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I'm positive money on the month.

After being down over 3k on the day, I swung back up $5k in about 4 hours of play. For the first time all month I was actually running good. It's amazing how easy this game is when you don't lose every hand.

1k down, 59k to go. Only 23 days left! Sounds easy.

Edit: I totally forgot this, but i need to say this. I won my first allin of the day, right as The Ding Dong Song came up on launch. This song is forever going to be in my playlist, because it is the luckiest song ever.
