    Default Operation: Rush turbo madness

Gonna make a short goal just for February:
    - Play 400 $11 Rush Turbo SnG's

These start when 40 people register and late-reg is available for ~15 minutes so the avg field size ends up being around 250. They finish quickly but you get so many hands/hr that the fast structure doesn't hurt your edge too much. They have $26's which I'll play if the $11s aren't filling up quick enough.

    The plan:
Giving myself a couple days off each week, I'll need to play around 20 per day. Right now I really like the idea of splitting the day into 2 sessions. However I might be able to play one ~4 hr session. With help from my hotkeys (TableNinja) I can 6-table easily and might be able to handle 8.

I've been playing scheduled MTT's exclusively for a long time but I'm getting tired of grinding an entire day and eating crappy food or skipping meals. I also end up playing a lot of tournies that I'm not very motivated for (poor structure, too small of a buyin, tough fields). I'll still play some of the better ones but I want to primarily focus on playing a ton of these rush sng's. I hope to have close to 100% ROI but it doesn't seem smart to set a ROI goal

This seems like it could be a very good month...lots of money, more time during the day, less soul crushing variance. I'll post updates here along with my graph every 100 games. Vamoooo

Yeah eating is a huge problem for me too. The best days are when I eat a huge breakfast with lots of protein. Then I can play for the next 4-5 hours without getting hungry. During hour 5 I have some yogurt. During hour 6, I have peanut butter on whole wheat. After hour 8, I usually just starve or eat something crappy.

    Anyway, GLGLGLGL

Unfortunately the games haven't been filling up very fast. I played this afternoon and registered for 11 straight sng's and was never more than 5-tabling because of how quick they are. Then I tried playing around 7:30pm PST and only 3 sng's started after an hour.

For now I'll try to get in volume earlier in the day and see if I can play 20 sngs in one session

One thing that's interesting about rush is the decision whether to quick fold when antes come into play. The consensus on 2p2 is that its a leak, but I'm not sure.

Assuming you have an edge on the field, you want to get in as many hands in as possible. Wouldn't the extra value from playing more hands offset the losses of quick-folding? It seems like a much tougher question if you look at the final table bubble where stacks are shallower and you'll be in the blinds almost 50% of the time

wow I can only 6 table if ONE is rush. maybe 8 but I miss a lot of quick folds.

    gl!

    100 games finished: -$14 lol

Pretty brutal start so far, actually getting really frustrated and not playing my best at times. Here's some stuff that I'm going to work on:

    1) Stealing blinds more from the regs. Some of them go behind the definition of a nit. A lot of them have VPIP/PFR's of 7/5 or something close to it. I hope they like me opening any-two on their blinds

    2) Taking my time before quickfolding. There's only 10 seconds to act but quickfolding gets addictive and I probably miss spots to steal and play smarter postflop

    3) Tighten up shoving range over opens. Especially preante I think its really easy to make bad shoves. I've been adjusting a little already...in today's session I folded JJ to a nit's 14BB EP open, which is probably close.

    4) Stop getting coolered, hold, and win flips. Hmm

So the month is already half over! I'm behind pace having played 176 so far. There have only been two days where I didn't play a session, but I almost never got to the 20 sng/day goal. It's probably best to give myself time for a couple 2 hour sessions compared to 1 session. Pretty tiring 4-5 tabling these for a long time.

I'm still surprised out how tilted I was during my downswing. I learned a long time ago to stop caring about short term results and obsessively checking my graphs or cashier. But when I started this I was watching my graph go down and then I felt way more upset after busting. Anyway, I won't be looking at my results closely until I check things out at the end of the month.

Here's me. Started operation in the middle of the small angry guy

Managed to pull ahead for the month, but I'm getting excited to start MTT'ing again in March

After Thursday I needed to play 95 of these before the end of the month. Just got back today from a snowboard trip which was really fun. Had only gone once about 10 yrs ago and I wasn't sure how well I'd do but we booked lessons which really helped. I won't be able to play today so I'm going to call it quits. If it were really important I could probably get to 400 but this operation was mostly to see how easy it was to get in volume and how soft they were.

I did eat better and it was nice being able to take about an hour off to get everything prepared. The problem was that the time I would get in the most volume was between 11am-5pm. I was hoping that I could have time to do stuff like play some golf during the day and put in volume at night but they just didn't start fast enough. Even during peak hours the max tables I ever got to was 7, which to be fair is just about my limit.

You can definitely make good money in these; some of the better regs I saw had ROI's around 60% thru 3k+ samples. I'll probably keep playing these on the side, but I think MTT's are much more fun. You do have reads in rush poker, but HUD stats can only go so far. I ended up getting about 1k hands on some players without having a clue about their postflop games. I only felt confident about preflop decisions; postflop was a big guessing game that got really annoying.

It was also tough to grind these because there is literally never a time where you don't have to make a decision. It's nice being able to have some dead periods where you can relax a little.

    Summary: 305 played, 44.5% ROI, $22/hr, +$1628
