    Default Operations: 25NL

Well after only a few months at this, I've learned 1 thing about my poker play. And that is that I suck at SnG's!!

I started in late October 2007 playing multi tourneys and sitnGo's at paradise, and tbh had no idea what I was doing and lost huge. By late December I had been down 3K, and figured i better quit are try something else.

Late December, i decided to throw another $200 into paradise and give the cash tables a go.

So there I am $3200 deposited, and only a $200 BR. At this time, i still was just playing stupid poker, but I also started reading up and learning about things such as poker tracker, strategies etc...

Only 2 weeks later, my BR went from 200 to 800 playing 25NL, and during this time i had decided to take advantage of bonuses, and other sites that provide better multi-tabling software.
So, I withdrew 600 from my 800 paradise BR and deposited into Full tilt.
In the last cpl weeks since then, my paradise BR has come back up again, from 200 to 1K, with a switch from 25nl to 50nl at about the 750 mark.
My FT account has grown from $600 to $940 with $440 still to clear on the bonus.
I have now withdrawn another 500 from paradise to deposit somewhere else, proabably stars/absolute or UB.

    So, over October/November/December I lost 3.2K,
and won back approx 2k in Jan.

Didn't get poker tracker until mid-jan, but here's the stats for Jan @ Full Tilt:

    Default February

Well in Feb I finished off the FT bonus and moved over to stars to start working on the sign up bonus there.

I chose to bank the $500 i cashed out from paradise last month, and ended up losing the rest at paradise. So i pocketed the $500 and focused on Full tilt.

    Tilt much??!!??!!
Again I was dabbling between full ring and shorthanded, as well as bouncing between 25 and 50NL.
I learned the importance of Bankroll in Feb, among many other things.
Still alot to learn, and in march I hope to do the following:
    - increase my VPIP and PFR
    - focus on post flop play, pot control
    - bet sizing

    Still multitabling 4 tables.

    Feb winnings - ($186)
    winrate - -0.67ptBB/100
    Feb Bonuses - $440
    Total earnings - $254

    Default March

Yuk, another month that started well, but ended horribly.
I finished the bonus at stars and moved over to Party poker.
after clearing party, i moved to playboy to clear their sign up bonus and that was a mistkae.

First of all , i only took part of my roll to playboy, and played 50NL.
started well, but I tilted horribly, wasnt comfortable, and lost my deposit in about 1.2k hands - $240. OUCH
Needless to say, screw that bonus!

and then i decided to screw the rest of them too. Screw the bonuses, i was having fun at stars/party so im going back there.

After a small loss at poker stars, i opted to head over with my full roll to party.

Played 4k hands at 50NL, lost almost $400, then I hit the point where I thought to myself

    "WTF am I DOING!!!"

I decided to make some rules for myself for april, starting with some basic ones that I should have followed a long ass time ago...

#1 I've been playing at levels (50NL) when I havent even proven that i can beat 25 NL
#2 - Im playing 4 tables when I havnet proven i can play well enough at two..
#3 - im trying to take advantage of sign up bonuses rather than improve my game

so, im sure there are many more things i need to work on,
but for april, my rules for myself are as follows:
    #1 - stick to a max of 2 tabling
    #2 - play 25NL 6-max ONLY
#3 - Play at party poker, no bonus whoring
and my goals for the month are:
#1 - play atleast 15k hands for April Accountability
    #2 - have a winrate of atleast 5ptBB/100

    March winnings - (-$660)winrate - (-3.21) ptBB/100
    March Bonuses - $300
    Total Earnings - (-$360)

To date winnings (Includes current Bankroll) - ($1,306)

    thanks!!

well its looking good so far this month.

Ive switched to 2 tabling from 4, ive stuck to 25NL, and so far after about 6 k hands im at about 13ptBB/100 with little variance.

but most importantly, I "Feel" like I am beating 25NL instead of asking myself "what am i doing wrong"

ive hit heaters and coolers, but my variance is at a minium, which is new to me

my ups and downs (variance) in the past months would flip flop about every 1.5-3k hands.

feeling pretty good about this month so far...

    Default April

    Well the month went really well. I followed the rules I set for myself, and acheived all the goals I set out for the month;

    Default update

well, I am 6600 hands in,
    approx 2600 @ 50NL and 4000 @ 25NL...

I've also reached the benchmark of 100K tracked hands

so far I am crushing both at 12ptBB/100 and feeling pretty confident, minimal variance again this month so far, and all my top losing hands were played "correctly".

To be honest, when I read your opening post, I said "Uh oh"...Your BR management at the beginning was ugly!

Looking good now! Keep it Goin!
    Hey knucklehead! Bonk!
  9. #9

    Default yuk

My goal for 50NL this month was 5K hands @ 3ptBB.

well, last night, i hit 5k hands and was sitting at 11ptbb/100.
then, as i was waiting for BB's to come around, i did this ugly disgusting crap...

I know i played this straight hand horribly, and shouldnt have called the river. but how should i have played the turn?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (5 handed) Party-Poker Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver Cards)

    UTG ($36.24)
    MP ($52.16)
    Button ($53.54)
    Hero ($126.20)
    BB ($69.55)

Preflop: Hero is SB with , .
UTG calls $0.50, MP raises to $1.5, Button calls $1.50, Hero calls $1.25, BB calls $1, UTG calls $1.

    Flop: ($7.50) , , (5 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG bets $1.5, MP raises to $3, Button folds, Hero calls $3, BB calls $3, UTG folds.

    Turn: ($18) (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, MP bets $4, Hero raises to $12, BB calls $12, MP calls $8.

    River: ($54) (3 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $20, MP calls $52.16 (All-In), Hero calls $35.66, BB calls $15.66.

    Final Pot: $177.48

    Results in white below:
BB has 7d Ad (flush, ace high).
MP has Kd 9d (flush, king high).
Hero has 9c Tc (straight, queen high).
    Outcome: BB wins $177.48.

then i shoved AA on a flop where he obviously had a set (same guy) .. how bad of play was this?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (5 handed) Party-Poker Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver Cards)

    MP ($51.58)
    Hero ($53.69)
    SB ($121.36)
    BB ($55.23)
    UTG ($49.25)

Preflop: Hero is Button with , .
2 folds, Hero raises to $2, 1 fold, BB calls $1.50.

    Flop: ($4.25) , , (2 players)
BB bets $3, Hero raises to $9, BB raises to $16, Hero calls $53.69 (All-In), BB calls $35.69.

    Turn: ($107.63) (2 players, 1 all-in)

    River: ($107.63) (2 players, 1 all-in)

    Final Pot: $118.63

    Results in white below:
BB has 6s 6h (full house, sixes full of jacks).
Hero has Ad Ah (two pair, aces and jacks).
    Outcome: BB wins $118.63.

then, if the above 2 werent enough, i lost another 120BB @ 25NL to a set over set about 5 minutes later ugh...

so currently, i have hit my 5k hands for 50Nl and am well above my target of 3ptBB/100, and im on par for about 6ptbb/100 in 25NL so far.

yuk, was at 11ptbb/100 for both before last night.

that straight hand is sooo gross.
cant figure out if that hand caused me to play the next AA hand the way i did, and if i even played it bad or not. /sigh
then the set over set at 25Nl 5 minutes later just made me sick.

on a good note, ive had a few other set over sets/ aa cracked / kk craked etc... over the past 4.5k hands, and those with the above hands Ive still managed to break even in that 4.5k hands so i guess i cant complain.

this type of run would normally be a huge downswing for me, but ive managed to keep it even.

not trying to sound mean or anything but with the way you were running (12BB/100) a bit of a downswing was to be expected. i know that doesn't comfort you at all. just wanting to make sure your expectations aren't set too high.

    yea i know

i just cant tell if the coolers are causing me to tilt. normally im fine, but i am getting them soo often in the last 5-6k hands i think im tiliting some.

gonna look through my hands tommorrow and post some for some advice.

    thanks though

I'm in the same boat right now. Had a pretty good heater going at the end of April, but have broken even for the last 5500 hands throughout May.

It'll come around...just sucks watching all these idiots walk away with the money. Just review your play, and if nothing is sticking out to you, then just keep doin what you're doin! Control your tilt monster!

after reviewing most of my all in losses, there is one thing ive noticed...
my big hands JJ/QQ/KK/AA/AK are NEVER getting any action. and when they do, i get them cracked or sucked out on...

here is a list of coolers/semi-coolers over the 7k hands... (ive only included the ones that cost me my stack)

    kk cracked by AA x1
    kk cracked by QQ set
    set over set x1
QQ cracked by fishy hitting set on paired flop with 75s
QQ cracked by KK (vill called 3bet with KK wtf? , called my flop shove)
rivered a str that also gave vill a boat

and here are my horrible plays, whaaat the %$&# was I thinking??

comments welcome, please be harsh!! i deserve it!

Tbh i think you're getting down on yourself for no reason on most of those hands. My humble opinion...

    1) The 3-bet on the flop is suppppper suspicious, so maybe u could call and re-evaluate on turn. This could very well be results-oriented tho
    2) PF is fine IMO, depending on how aggro BB is. If he likes to call then you'll be gettin good odds to see a flop, but if he's a raise monkey i'd dump it. U know where u went wrong on turn/river.
    3) Marginal, but by no means terrible. 50/50 between playing it the same and dumping PF (again depends on villain). Was villain a nitty mcnit? U have no FE once he reraises to $25 so if villains range doesn't include TPGK, worse flush draws (unlikely given raise size? He'd prolly either call ur raise or shove) i guess u can fold.
    4) Mehhh, tough to fold here. Unless u know that villain is never doing this with a draw, KQ, QJ, 10Q, XhXh etc. then i'm going broke also.
    5) Check/fold or Check/shove turn. U have outs when behind and FE.

As far as the coolers and stuff goes, u should try and not let it affect you. I mean, if u have over 100k hands logged, u'd think u'd be used to it by now? As an expiriment, go through ur database and see how many times u've held AA vs KK AIPF, set over set, flush over flush etc. I'm sure you'll find it's comparable to how often u've had the worst of it

Woo, feels good to be back and thinking about poker again!
There's only one system. Bet. Lose. Borrow. Steal. Lose. Take the drugs. Lose. Prison. Death.

Wow you play tight for 6-max (even tight for FR...)! And REALLY tight for just 2-tabling! How does this not get boring for you? What are you doing between hands?

Nice heater on your $100NL shot, that had to feel good. Your bump at about hand 23K must have been a lot of fun.

Are you sticking with 2-tabling for July?
    Hey knucklehead! Bonk!

I typically play about 18/12 ish or so i think...
but any given night I adjust to the players at the table

as for what i do between hands..
research..research and more research on my opp's via poker tracker

i replay hands i have on them over and over again, making notes etc...

    its working for me

as for 2 tabling, yes, I intend to stick with only 2 tables.
I often have more open, but its only to find good tables. i often am running 3 or 4, but once I figure out which 2 I like, i close the rest.

I am able to play quite tight as I use a friend finder to keep track of many fish at party, and there are many...

    Default Gross

1st losing month since early this year.
DID NOT stick to my rules
DID NOT practice proper BR management

i was playing more tables than I want to be,
i was tilting because i was playing over my roll ( $100NL with only 20 BI's when i want 30-40)

needless to say, im starting again at 25NL, and am going to get back on track.

I've played atleast 30K hands at each of the levels 25/50/100, and during that time my play at 25NL has been the most profitable. So moving down to 25NL makes sence for alot of reasons, not just BR.
I've profited at each level, but per/hour wise 25NL is the best right now.

I think my main problems this month were 2 things:
1 - playing under BR makes badbeats more likely to tilt me - hence bad play as my discipline SUCKS when im playing outside mr BR.
2 - playing too many tables, getting greedy.

the stats in this post actually include some from early august, but since my bad play/decisions continued into ealry august, i am including it into July so I can have a fresh start. So I start August today!!

    2 tabling ONLY
25NL ONLY (unless i reach 40 buy ins for next level)
    Here is the months stats:

    Goals for AUG:
    #1 - play atleast 15k hands
    #2 - have a winrate of atleast 4ptBB/100 (25NL)

    ______________________________________
    July winnings - (-$1052.07) winrate - (-0.83)ptBB/100
    July Bonuses - $402
    Total Earnings - (-$650.07)
To date winnings (Includes current Bankroll) $1698.21

    Ugh, that sucks dude.

Why are you dropping all the way back to $25NL? Where does $50NL fit in here?

    BTW, your stats are missing!

Dude, if you werent rolled for 100nl, what are those 200nl sessions doing there? I guess you learnt the lesson, but it was an expensive one .

As for your previous months graphs (missed those), how the hell do you get 219 full houses in 25k hands??? I've got 49 over 20k .
Just dipping my toes back in.

i was rolled for 100NL last month, but i cashed out half my roll
i dont want to play with less then 30-40 buy ins, an dright now i have about 30 for 50NL

but i want to get my groove back (discipline)

as for the full houses, that means 219 times i woudld have got a full house IF i stayed in every hand. it includes hands that are folded.
