Actually there is one thing of interest: I started a new diet this weekend. It's based on the 'four hour body', a slightly informmercialish self-helpish book by Timothy Ferris about diet/exercise/sex/life etc. I would shrug it off as bullshit but for once I'm going to give this type of thing a try. I go to the gym 5 days/week and don't follow a very strict diet (but nor do I eat any fast food or obviously bad stuff) but I'm still just in ok shape for my age. So I've been wanting to make some changes and this seems like a decent place to start. Basically the diet eliminates 'white carbohydrates' from your diet 6 days a week as well as some other things (fruit notably), so that means no bread, no rice, no pasta (even the brown stuff was at one point white so that's a no-no), no whole wheats, no orange juice etc.. It focuses on proteins (eggs, chicken/beef/pork/fish), legumes (lentils, beans) and vegetables.
Another thing he really pushes is going to your 'failure' point when you are working out. So instead of doing 3 sets of 10 reps of dumbell curls, do a higher weight and only do one set and do it until you physically can no longer lift the weight. I'm simplifying it all quite a bit, but I'm gonna try it out. I will update this with some results, and maybe even a before/after pic hopefully for the thousands of attractive, single, female followers I have reading this blog.
