Tonight was a fun night.

I railed my friend on Party, who was taking a shot at 400NL. While doing this I fire up Stars (my SnG "play" money) and decide to try out some low-stakes limit holdem. Wow, after getting on four tables and about 2 orbits, I decide this is NOT the game for me. Where's the big pots!? Where's the DANGER? I don't see any. Maybe since I'm "spoiled" by NL, and playing with less money than a normal NL table, I was a bit more jaded towards it, but I digress...

So I ask my friend "HORSE is Holdem, Omaha, Razz and WHAT?" He doesn't know, so I look online. Stud and Stud Hi-Lo! (And Omaha Hi-Lo, not Hi) Razz is just low cards, and I've played a little Omaha, and I really enjoy stud (but I don't think I'm really good at it or anything). Well, I get on a .5/1 table on Stars and realize they have HOSE and HORSE...I actually got on a HOSE, so I go find one that's also HORSE and try it out.

Beginners luck? Probably. But I bought in for $40, 2 tables of $20, and left up about $15-20, not bad! Better than the money (I really wasn't up much till my last few hands when I had Auto Post Blinds off and caught some goodies), I had FUN playing! Just playing Holdem can get mundane after a while, and that was a great breath of fresh air. I might put off my SnG playing for a while and just play HOSE and HORSE...I had the most fun playing Razz of all of them

This post isn't really meant to be that informative, it's more like a reminder to stay in a positive mindset. If you're having trouble concentrating in your game (I'm on a good run, but I still can get bored), maybe you should mix it up! Even if you don't win at the particular game..play something lower stakes than you're used to, find a cheap thrill, and have fun. You should go back to your game as sharp as ever
