Default Time to grind (and get better)

I decided to open a new operation because my goals in poker have really changed since I opened my last one.

To date: +around 4.5k in sngs on stars. some donking at 2-10nl thats mostly breakeven. I kindof fell into playing poker for a "living" if you can call it that. I was on a contracted wildfire engine and worked a whopping 3 days this summer. So I played alot of poker and improved.

Future: I believe I want to move out of Sngs and move to 6max cash with maybe some HU in the future. Going to be moving to Europe in 2 weeks where I'll reinstate my stars account.

My largest issue is confidence. I totally do not believe in my game when I'm running bad or making some minor mistakes (relative to my opposition at low stake games). I took a week off and returned to see my beloved pokerstars no longer offers services to players from WA state Not running hot right now breakeven for a couple hundred games and have no trust in myself which is pretty ridiculous because I've proven that I beat lowstakes sngs over 2K+ games. I have small roll at fulltilt that I got xferred there (ty fulksy!) and I've lost 25% of that so far this month

    The Plan:
I will be living with my grandparents with relatively few expenses outside of "ooh I want that it's pretty" purchases. Going to be pretty sweet cuz I'll have essentially my own house since my grandparents building is pretty much two houses connected on the 2nd story. Time to grind!!

Deposit 600 to fulltilt. I will have 120 days to clear this and I also will receive rakeback. This totals to 56% RB because:
deposit bonus is 40% (4cents per ftp and 1$ in rake=10ftp)
rakeback is 27% of the remaining 60% of my rake/juice so 16.2%
Goal is to clear this by Dec 31st 2010

Starting bankroll: 130 (730 as soon as I get my money off stars and onto fulltilt)

5nl 6max: Play until +20 bi and feel like game is solid

May play some sngs to help clear bonus and some mtts every now and then.

Reevaluate where I stand on New Years

I'll be posting in the BC soon since I have basically 0 cash game experience.

    1st in gl sir.

Get a handle on that confidence thing buddy it will fuck with you in so many ways. Bummer about the PS Washington crap. I'm just south of you down in Oregon but we don't have that problem thank god.

Damnit I just got so owned. Spent an hour making a video of me 4 tabling the 5nlz 6max and then the crap program I was using couldn't merge the audio and video layers. Then I proceed to save over the video portion while I was trying to play audio/video out same time to see if it could still work and I could post. Totally sucks because there were alot of spots I got into that I wanted advice on. First profitable session though (wee +.5 buyins)
Ah wells I'm going to try again today for my second session listening to the audio I do alright at explaining thought process but I need to stop sniffling cuz I'm sick and also stop mumbling or saying "oh wow".

greatest line is for sure "so I'm playing 5nlz used to play sng ... [pause] ooh... oh wow, that is very cute but uhm uh.. we're folding" sadly I already forget the hand and the video data is gone.

ty for dropping by harley and philly!

be on the lookout for a vid in BC soon. hopefully tonight.

about 8 hours in so far for BC prop where I've propped 75 but I've only played 2.5 days.

    NL Holdem $0.05(BB) Replayer
    SB ($6.93)
    BB ($10)
    UTG ($14.05)
    UTG+1 ($4.50)
    Hero ($9.64)
    BTN ($12.13)

    Dealt to Hero A A

UTG calls $0.05, UTG+1 calls $0.05, Hero raises to $0.35, fold, fold, fold, UTG raises to $1.05, fold, Hero ..., fold

the second guy who flats is 80/70 and he clearing is tarping or set mining. As I raise I say that I'm expecting a LRR here from him alot (with a wide range) and when then other guy utg LRR I didn't edit my plan.
he later in chat makes it pretty clear he has KK or AK. he's runing 24/12/0 over 60 hands isn't stacking too light postflop. I've been running 20/0 over the 30 hands I've been here . Should we be flatting and getting it in on any board sans KQJ mono that we miss? I think it's a safer line I was just scared of not having the nuts deep with 180bbs behind on flop. But we can bet/raise flop after we flat and prolly get it in vs KK / QQ assuming no overs.
lesson: (a)consider your image (super nit) and since I know villain isn't fucking around (QQ, AK) a flat is much better. (b)Don't be scared of getting stacked postflop.

Also I think I'm going to give up on posting a video for now. However I've had good sessions (by aiev... ) all times I've been recording.

Onward to super grind friday !!!! runbetter

failhand of they day. left 1/2 pot behind and fail to click max button and minbet. Did go on superheater for 2 buyins in 150 hands though. clearly should been 2.5 though. This guy was a huge station / fish calling any ace here

    BB ($12.65)
    UTG ($5)
    UTG+1 ($5)
    CO ($5.84)

    Dealt to Hero K A

fold, UTG+1 raises to $0.15, fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.45, fold, UTG+1 calls $0.30

    FLOP ($0.95) A 2 3

    Hero bets $0.80, UTG+1 calls $0.80

    TURN ($2.55) A 2 3 3

    Hero bets $1.70, UTG+1 calls $1.70

    RIVER ($5.95) A 2 3 3 8

    Hero bets $0.05, UTG+1 calls $0.05

    UTG+1 shows A 5

    Hero shows K A
    (Pre 70%, Flop 73.6%, Turn 80.7%)

    Hero wins $5.65

GL, i think i might be joining you I want to play and learn/improve my cash game. The whole SnG thing is getting pretty repetitive, its hard to leave your bread and butter though. i have about a month or so until my business starts slowing down for the winter so I'm just going to play a bit here and their till that time. then i might be able to but in some decent hours. I'm pretty bad at cash games and sorta in the same boat, so i might pick up some things following this op, so keep er updated.

In the AK hand were you betting to take the pot down or for value? I think the 94% bet is often going to drive lesser hands out which you really don't want. I would think something like 50-60% would have probably been a little better if betting for value. I like your turn bet and TOTALLY hate your river bet. What the hell is the since in betting $.05 on the river? What possible purpose did it serve? If for value you surely could have gotten a call with 1/3 size bet.

uhm you missed something sir. failhand because of this
"left 1/2 pot behind and fail to click max button and minbet."

good point about flop. This guy is a total drooler but I should have been aiming to get stax in over 3 streets. I just bet flop big for value (without too much thought, leak ldo), saw turn and was like meh better bet small to leave a decent amount for river and keep his aces in. wee shove river. o wait what's this shit. 5 cents?

Yea sorry about that I totally missed that part!

You've inspired me. I decided to play some 6-max 2NL, mostly to try to claim the "take two" bonus at Full Tilt. If it goes well maybe I'll keep it up though. I'm up a whole $2 today.

hah, i went back to playings sngs but doing some 6max still. Yea take two is pretty great. You pay 50 cents in rake for 9 days (less generally since it takes table av rake) and they give you 25$. +ev imo. Not much else. Flying this monday and pretty pumped for building a whole new pc setup that will be ridic overbuilt but w/e. Pictures in about a week. about 30 hours for BC prop so 45 more to go...

gl, Sir. I'm cash-retarded myself. Something to do with being an action junkie and the AI button.

Yeah I hear that. Cash games just seem like so much more of a grind to me than tourneys.

    Arr-in baby.
