Weekend Play: One night experiment
I make my money during the weeks plain and simple.
At $25NL (and I daresay at $50NL) the tables are populated by Taggs and weak players. The players are so ridiculously easy to outplay after the flop that a good lagg game really seems to work. Ive been playing this style for a while at home games and online and i've had loads of success, but my BR is stagnent. Why?
Because I havn't learned to adjust to the weekend play. playing 2 nights during the week i make on average 2/3 buyins and lose the same amount on a weekend. The play is totally different.
During the week, it is easy to get paid by REPRESENTING sets, and by firing second barrels at continuation bets. (When the situation is right obv.) Sure you can get paid when you hit big if you play the right way, but there is so much additional value in taking advantage of the weak/tight players as well. Not so at the weekends.
From what ive noticed the major change is in the number of people who call EVERYTHING. Even missed AK all the way to the river! Bluffs don't work. Pf raises can be called by 42. My game just doesnt work in these situations.
So here is my plan. Tonight i'm gonna play the rockiest rock game ever. Playing pots with pairs (when i have the odds), set or forget all pps below QQ, betting TPTK hard. Never bluffing, and calling the button with SC's, and one gappers, to try and hit big flops in position. During the week, this may make money but not much. Hopefully at the weekend it should pay off.
4 tabling for 5-6 hours should mean around 2k hands at full ring (hopefully). Ill post the results and key hands from the experiment tonight..
wish me luck
