    No, I'm not turning tricks. Sorry to disappoint.


    I'm heading to Vegas today, I plan on slipping 20 to the check in guy at my hotel Vdara, but considering it's march madness. Is this just throwing money away?

    Under normal circumstances you get a "free" upgrade. But since it's march madness, the hotel might be so overbooked that it won't matter. Thus, the question.

    Only time I tried this "trick" ended up becoming a socially awkward penguin moment as the female clerk handed back my $20 saying: "you've already paid for your room, sir".
    Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

    Just be upfront and honest with them.
    Ask for a discount or upgrade when booking.
    If they say no, then book somewhere else.
    Haggling and bartering is a very old tradition.
