Well, I may as well get my thoughts out here since the subject has been opened. There are several points that need addressed here.

A. Why everyone is giving you crap - When you post a guide and then start a discussion thread, you are supposed to get criticism for it. That is the point. But any criticism that is given to you, all you can say is "look at my results." I'll address those later. People try and give you constructive criticism and all u do is trash it. The reason your post got trashed on 2+2 is that alot of what you say is either debatable or flat out wrong. Just because a bunch of noobs who don't know anybetter PM you and say your guide as helped them, doesn't mean your guide is right. The second reason everyone is giving you crap is your outright cockiness, both here and on 2+2. You completely believe yourself to be one of the best players in poker, and you show that in your comments. I think the incident in the $20 rebuy with Johnnybax comes into play here. "I own JohnnyBax, he's a fish." And then to try and prove it you play back him in 2 hands for no reason and practically hand him your 6th place stack in the 2nd hour, over a course of 2 hands. You are not the best player in the world, noone on this forum is, and until you come to accept that in the overall reality of poker, we are all just noobs, people will continue to bash you. You claim to be a student of the game, yet you reject any knowledge people try to give you.

B. The "Image" you have created with the FTR noobs - Its one thing if you think of yourself highly, but to put off that stigma with no humbleness whatsoever and expose it to the newbies of FTR who only read the stickies in the MTT forum, is just wrong. Your "style" is a very dangerous play style, which has caused you to crash and burn in many, many tournaments. This style is highly unappropriate for 95% of poker players, especially those that are new to the game. For this reason I find that your guide, which contains no warnings on how dangerous the style is, is highly unappropriate for noobs to be following.

C. The immorral way that utilize your "image" - Boost has already touched on this, but i'll continue. You bash me for getting staked money, but I was staked upon a mutual aggreement by someone who has the bankroll to warrant that risk. You on the other hand, have concentrated on borrowing money from those you can't afford to lend out money, but do anyhow because of who you are. When I first joined FTR i read your original guide and had respect for you. Then one day I was sitting in IRC and you came in, I said something to you like "hey rippy, i just read your guide, very nice." Then you immediately PMed me and asked if I could lend you money. I of course said no, but because my BR was too small and I was saying "why the fuck is this guy asking ME for money?" Two months later I found out that you conned my gf into lending her money. Then I later discovered that this was a trend. Every new person that showed up in IRC, got a PM from rippy requesting money. How low can you go? Asking people with BRs less than $500 to lend you money??? Whats wrong with you?? To top this off, the fact that you have requested a cut off the top after offerring to coach people in tourneys is just as disgusting. Also you say that your debts are not anyone else's business. WRONG. You going around preying off the innocent noobs of this forum for money is our business. Its inappropriate and an abuse of your status on FTR. Whether or not you paid them back is irrelevant, the money never should have been lent to you in the first place. And for everyone saying this thread needs locked, this is why it doesn't. This behavior is highly unappropriate and needs to be brought out into the open so it stops and never happens again.

D. Your so-called results. - Rippy, congrats on winning a bunch of tourneys, yay for you. But I think everyone would agree, the way you look at stats is wrong. You say ROI and sample size means nothing? It means everything. I've "won" $170,000 playing MTTs and SNGs in 6 months. My net is only $20000. You just posted that you took down $247.50 in a $55+5 turbo...no you didn't. You won $187.50, which is meaningless because a good player will only get about a 15% ROI on those, which is about $9 per SNG in the long run. Long run stats matter, short term stats do not. Thats why fish play poker, because they win in the short run and think they are really good, when in reality they will end up dumping thousands of dollars into the poker community. Everytime someone asks you for your real stats, you bullshit your way around it and say "LOOK AT MY RESULTS." We are looking...and what we see isn't impressive for anyone that knows anything. You have almost $50k in winnings in a year and half on MTTs. Your ROI has been stated around 100% NOT COUNTING your rebuys. Counting your rebuys it should be at least 100% and you need a few thousand MTTs just to make that stat reliable.

E. Your "defense" of yourself. - It seems very clear that you are incapable of having an intelligent discussion regarding these issues. Your only defense is to say "look at my results," which when we critique them you ignore us. Then you result to trashing the results of other players, which is nothing more than a 3 year old method. "You're stupid...well you're an idiot...etc..etc.." We keep bringing up actual points to you, and you keep ignoring them. You run away from the points people make against you. What are you afraid of? That we may be right? That maybe you aren't the poker god you think you are? That your precious image will be tarnished? You say this community has gone to shit, because everyone trashes you when you post. Well guess what, its because most of us are sick of your bragging and your high and mighty attitude and are simply trying to put you in your place. The reason I made that topic in IRC was to point out to all of your railbirds and worshippers how retarded what you did while trying to show off for them was. The point of all of this is, if you want to be a role model, act like one, and then noone will give you shit. Respond to our actuall critiscm with intelligent argument, defend the accusations made against you, and stop putting down others in defense of yourself.

Chill with the debt angle too. People who gave him money certainly weren't in the dark about what they were getting into and he did the right thing in the end.

I dont know man... sure after a while it became aparent. But I remember loaning him 50$ and he sure as hell wasnt upfront about owing otheres money. He swore, I get my money in 2 days. Then in 2 days.. its in a couple more days .. ect ect.. almost 2 months later I finally get my money. And 50$ was a lot to me then. So dont act like everything was out there in the open. I trusted the guy and he stomped all over my trust.

I pretty much agree with lamb. I also know rippy, and I'm happy for him that he got all of his debts paid off, and has a real roll now.

I was one of his lendors, and I was not one of the many who hassled him for the cash day in/day out.

Some of the criticism against him is probably brought on by himself, some is undeserved. I still hold rippy in higher regard than some others.

All I know is a few months ago rippy kept asking me for $10 on irc once a week. Now he has a(even bigger) god complex. We are only 3 months into the year, you have your great year and win a few hundred thousand great for you I am happy. But I dont think 3 months of winning is enough....

I wish you the best of luck and watched your last win from the final two tables on and was very impressed up untill it go headsup.

And yes I have a $500 roll, so I know nothing so dont play the I buy in for more than your bankroll card like so many people like to play.

Rippy you are being incredibly immature about this (coming from a 19 year old to a 40 year old). What did you expect to get from this thread? Do you want us to tell you how great your strategy guide is because the whole point of what people were saying on 2+2 (which you somehow managed to miss) is that your strategy guide--while having some valuable info--is not that great and has some major holes in it. It does also have some good tips, but it is by no means close to perfect. When people try to help you, you tell them they are wrong, or you insult them.

and you are right, there is no dialogue in this thread, there are simply a bunch of people giving you constructive (and some less usefull) criticism and you making jokes because you don't want to believe what they say.

Thats awesome. I wish I could have contributed somethine worthwhile to this thread. I've been a frequent poster around FTR for the better part of 1.5 years and frankly I've never said more than a few sentences to him for any reason at any time.

I don't mind him asking people for stakes. If I were in the same situation, this is the first place I would come if I ever needed money. I just hope that some of you would give me that chance.

That being said, there are some people that we like and I respect, some that I don't like and still respect, and others that I don't like and don't respect. Sadly, my impression of many people in this thread has forced me to go from the former to the latter.
