...are like Canadians and hockey, I suppose. But how important is it really?

Depends on who you ask really. I pretty much watch football all weekend if that says anything, but I'm just a big fan and leave it at that. It's not like I hate people that root for the other team, and obviously there are some people that take it that far.

When the Colts or the Pacers are playing, I get more riled up than almost any sports fan I know. I've had this discussion before with people who say that it's ridiculous to get so excited about a stupid game when there are so many more important things to worry about. I guess they have a point, but IMO, it's not that ridiculous. My first two years of college I would always go to the common room of my dorm on Sunday to watch the NFL and during the spring to watch the NBA playoffs. There were some other sports fans there too, I got to know them and they ended up being some of my best friends in college. Being a sports fan gives people something to talk about and a way to connect with each other, and yes it's not that important in the grand scheme of things, but it's given me a lot of fun experiences that I wouldn't trade for anything.

Importance is all relative. If you bet money on the Football games then they may be more important than the ones you didn't bet on?

I was never into football. It just doesn't seem like that interesting a sport to me. I always end up bored, especially since it takes fucking forever just to get through a few seconds of the actual game on TV. Also maybe it's just that I don't know much about it, but it seems the vast majority of coaches are pretty bad strategists, and tend towards playing way too weak/tight.
