San Andreas is only my most favorite game ever. I got to $400,000,000 in the game without cheating, but then I wanted to cash out.

But even so I never played 4. I'm just now contemplating whether or not to buy a console or a new video card to play newer games. New videocard seems to be the +EV option though, as SWTOR is about to be released and even if it is an MMORPG it's the one game that has piqued my interest in ages. Well, that and NBA 2K12.

+everyone on not having been into much GTA in recent memory. I've tried to pick up GTA 4 a few times, but once I get in a car and see how terribad I am at driving, I just quit outright.

Really the only game I'm interested in is the next Fallout whenever that comes out.

the only fallout i played was new vegas. which was fun except for the stupid vats system. was not a fan of easy mode combat but i thoroughly enjoyed every other aspect of the game

Yeah VATS + whichever skill makes you good with a sniper rifle makes the game super ez mode. I remember clearing out the Deathclaws from that salt-mine area from like a mile away. But Fallout 3 and NV were both super fun to explore.

I have been thinking of picking up some sort of game again. I was an avid gamer in the past back in the Nintendo, sega and PS1 era and played a ton. Once PS2 came out I played Vice City, Grand Turismo 3 and a lot of sports games. I haven't been able to find the genre I want to get back into playing. I have looked at even playing WoW a couple times but haven't picked it up. Since picking up poker my inner gamer has faded.

I even got into Half Life, Command and conquer, myst and some starcraft2 on the computer. I miss playing games, I just can't find one to peak my interest in my downtime like Poker did.

I dunno. I the last elder scrolls one I never leveled up (I think villains levled with you?) so I was getting kickass weapons and the bad guys stayed the same level. It was too easy.

What are your thoughts on the following games:

Batman- never played
Mario Galaxy -finished 1 never got into 2
Donkey kong country returns - never a fan of Donkey kong, is it the same genre?
Portal- liked it, but only played about 20 levels of #1 just this year when it was mentioned here. Found it a bit slow but like the riddle aspect.
Red Dead Redemption - never heard of it, watched youtube and didn't seem interesting.
First person shooters - used to be my preference, but don't spend enough time. Played some halo, tons of quake, unreal tourn, half life and the sorts all the way back to the original Duke nukem on the computer. They got too fast and too many to keep up. I like the problem solving aspect of single player more than online HU4rolls types.

NBA Street 2 and 3 were pretty cool for me too. I think I need something to play at the computer more than on console, since my kid always seems to have the Wii and PS3 at his house.

Yea, that was pretty fkn AIDS, and I really think that to date the series peaked at Morrowind. Skyrim looks like it has some serious potential though.

Morrowind is my hands down favorite game of all time though. If they could revamp the battle system to be more similar to Oblivion I think I would spend another 8,000 hours playing that game.

Infamous 2 was great, got the bundle. I'm playing the first one now too, it's fun but the graphics are a bit rougher, it's difficult getting used to not having all his powers. I keep just missing buildings, and hitting the button to glide only to be dissapointed.

Also playing MW3 on PS3, Knightofnarg if anyone wants to add me. Pretty good with domination, mediocre everywhere else.

i also got game winning kill versus frosst who doesn't poast here anymore

few gripes -

spawns/maps(?): In order to create more gun on gun battles, IW has no qualms about spawning people behind you/right next to you. Also, the maps lack choke or power points. I don't know how I feel about that - it kinda reduces camping but everything feels kinda crazy.

Some of the maps are just plain unappealing to me. Outpost and Bakara come to mind. I like Dome, Hardhat, Resistance, and Interchange, and that other big one that looks kinda like Resistance.

Can't wait til they bring back some maps from COD4 and MW2.

guns: Like MW2, secondary machine pistols are lol overpowered. I think black ops had it right when they basically just had pistols as secondarys and you could add an auto attachment but it wasn't like you could drop people from range.

Quickscoping is overpowered now toooo.

I heard the shotguns suck but I haven't used one yet.

random shit placed everywhere: wtf barrel, refrigerator, pallets, etc. this really hurts the grenades and some of the shit that you should be able to jump over you can't.... Like I can jump on to one dumpster but I can't jump on another same sized dumpster? Also frustrating to have nignog shooting magically shooting through an object with just his head exposed.

connection: Personally, I'm toast if I don't have a 4 bar (full) connection. On 3 bar, I round the corner and they have already seen me for a full second and usually pwn me. I even turned the theater off, thinking that might help. Dedicated servers plz.

killstreaks: take god damn stealth bomber out of support, juggernaut is way overpowered in objective games, jfc there are too many UAVs up


With all that said, when I got a 4 bar connection, I'm having a good time.

Picked up MW3 Friday.

I'm enjoying it so far. I'm really having a tough time figuring out the maps though. Trying to play as many objective games as possible (mostly Search) to get a grasp on where everything is at.

There are just a shit load of windows and head glitches for people to be in and spawns are fucking insane.

We've been playing Domination and had the enemy team double capped (let's say they had only the A flag) and have simultaneously spawned in with an enemy in a C flag spawn point on a few occasions.

LOVE the CoD4 red dot sights they're using in this game!

All in all, enjoying it so far.

Yeah, the spawns are wtf bad. I've almost broken a controlled for spawning multiple times in a row with an enemy shooting me a second later

Noob toob sucks. Maps are kinda bleh. I like choke points (mainly cause I'm a burst rifle camper) and I miss the MW2 of old. There's that one huge map, dome?, which is favorable for long range weapons. I haven't figured out my close range gun yet. I'm pretty good at mowing down enemy one and then getting mowed down by his buddies right behind him.

Dome is the only map I can actually manuever around confidently. And if you're not being sarcastic, then Dome is not the map you're thinking of. I'm pretty sure that's the smallest map in the game, probably the same size (if not smaller) than Scrapyard.

Heard a rumor that PC already has Cod4 maps and Highrise from MW2. Gay as fuck console has to wait on the DLC for those.

Speaking of which...did anybody buy the elite or hardened edition? My brother got it and he gets all DLC a month early and free. I kind of wish I had of gotten one of those, but I just couldn't bring myself to pay $120 for a video game. (Although I do realize when all is said and done, I'll spend more on maps etc.)

Actually, Dome is pretty awesome. The one I was referring is nothing but concrete. It looks like ruined highways, on ramps, etc.

Damn, just played SND on it and went 9/0. Love this map.

I haven't figured out a good loadout for TDM but for SnD I really like:

type 95 is such a sick sick gun. 2 shot kills FTW! I like the PP90 whatever for smaller maps sometimes also. After i've got to know the maps better i like alot of them. Carbon is the AIDS, but everything else is terrible. Big fan of Fallen now and i hated it the first few times i played it.

Yep, it takes a few games to level up within that so that you can buy some of the cooler stuff, but fun. I've been playing mostly Kill confirmed as well, though I played more ps3 in the last week than the previous 3 months combined I think. That's not gonna last.

I started using the Type 95... it has been very successful comparatively. I have heard of this quick scoping, I shall investigate... but so far I'm just getting used to this.

I'd use specialist package maybe go (SoH + Scavenger + whatever)

Key here is to not take people head on, run around the edge of the maps and flank them. If you are running down areas with hudge lines of sight you are going to get raped by ARs and sniper rifles. But in close quarters, even with old man reflexes, you should win like >75% of gun fights shooting from the hip with ur fast as fuck smg. Silencer and Assassin will keep you off the radar (but enemy air support can still see you if you want to use blind eye).

That went pretty well... my "loadout" (i'm so fucking street it hurts) consists of

Type 95
Kick, Red Sight and Rapid Fire
Using Blind Eye, Hardline Pro, and Stalker Pro
Specialist Package with SoH Pro, Quick Draw (though honestly I get Quick Draw MAAYYbe once a game at most.

It works well, because if I manage to run through a whole clip chances are I killed something, my SoH Pro is activated and I get the quick reload.

I'd just want assassin and a silencer for staying off UAVs.

Maybe I should switch to hardline cuz it'd be 1 - 3- 5 (assassin, soh, w/e) and start with extreme conditioning+hardline+steady aim
