Blue screen of death

Ok, so I open up the stars lobby without a problem, log in, and try to take the "Football Fever" link. A popup box appears, and then CLUNK computer says no, and I get a BSOD with the error message

STOP: coo021a {Fatal System Error}

I did a bit of googling and the best I could figure is that I have a corrupt file, but it's strange that this problem only arises when I try to take this link in the stars lobby.

Anyone have any idea what the fuck is going on? If not, feel free to troll the shit out of this thread.

Interesting note - before I log in, the Football Fever link on the menu bar in the lobby has no exclamation mark after it, but as soon as I'm logged in, it does, like so -

I would also like to point out that I don't really care all that much about the promotion, best I can figure is it's tickets to a few all in tourneys, so a free bingo ticket basically. It's just a little alarming that my computer is playing up like this. I can't imagine it's a glitch with the stars software, otherwise it would be much easier to find information about it on the internet.

That is very weird. If you get no other hang ups otherwise I'd say shitty stars code confirmed. Switching to horrendously overpriced hardware with a bsd system that got raped to shreds by hipsters is not going to solve your problem.

I have the occasional problem with my comp, it freezes every now and then but it's rare and is usually when I'm running too many programmes.

I already solved my problem - I stopped caring, so it's no longer a problem. Now it's merely a curiosity.

I haven't tried ps7, but I think the bsod is related to the activeX controls, which I have disabled in IE. The pokerstars popup window that appears trying to load the "football fever" promo and causing the bsod, is loaded via activeX. Windows denies the load and this results in the bsod. Its PS client, not our systems, something buggy in their end.

can't you reenable active x with an "ask me" type before running and then enable for that application only and then disable them again

God no. If there's one thing more annoying than BSOD, it's a fiddly small fucking screen that I have to touch to make things happen.
