    Default COD: Black Ops

Anyone getting this? I'm picking up my pre-ordered copy for Xbox at midnight. GT is Scottmalkenson. I'd love to load up some multiplayer instead of starting a campaign if anyone wants to play.

That sucked balls. I hope it was just a one night thing and not some kind of glitch but my m16 would freeze up after one burst. It's like the gun would jam. Then the other guy would shoot me in the face.

It's cool that they got rid of some of the more annoying things from MW2 but overall, I think it's a worse game.

It's tougher for sure and for some reason I dont have the same addiction to this game that I had to MW2. I think it will take a lot more skill to be good at this game than previous Call of Duty games.

Here's my take on the game:

    Pros:
-Scavenger doesn't replentish claymores or grenade launchers

    -No One Man Army

-No Juggernaut/Painkiller/Commando (yes it did add a slight health increase) or anything else to help you stay alive

-No stopping power or danger close to drop enemies quicker

-The guns actually have recoil, so it comes down to who has better control and accuracy

-Treyarch has completely eliminated the need for public lobby boosting with the CoD points system

-Personal customization on everything is pretty cool I guess

    -Modded controllers don't work

    Cons:
-The maps are built for close quarters fighting, and when everything is around a corner with no direct line of sight, it's obviously going to promote camping (which is why Invasion/Skidrow etc were my least favorite maps on MW2 as opposed to Wasteland/Highrise)

-The graphics don't seem to be as fluid as MW2's

-Even post update sound whoring is pretty pointless and makes the $90 Triton's I bought obsolete (I'm like a bat, I hunt with my ears and getting knifed in the back by a guy who doesn't have Ninja on is pretty annoying)

-I was never a big sniper, but what they did to sniping and sniper rifles in this game is just terrible

It's just like every other CoD game, where it does have it's strengths and it's flaws, but I can guarantee even when superior perk/weapon setups (i.e. UMP w/ Marathon/Stopping Power) this game will be ten fold less annoying than MW2.

Send me an invite next time you see me on and we'll wreck some Search lobbies.

I agree with others that mw2 might be better. Just had that cant stop playing feel to it. But I think this game might grow on me once I get use to the maps and what not. However all the maps seem to be awful for sniping so far which really sucks since I like to mix it up and not just play and assault rifle the whole time. The other thing that sucks for me is that that all my friends only want to play team deathmatch which is probably my least favorite game mode. Learn to play some demo fools

I hate TDM too. Invite me to parties!!! I'm cool, I'm hip, duckaduckaduckaducka.

I've also noticed this game is in no way meant for snipers. Once I start playing Hardcore SnD that may change.

It reminds me a lot of counter-strike which is one of my all time favorites. I like it because those noob tubing 6 year olds with low attention span can't play it. You get more of a team-work based crowd who realize you need to look around corners and put yourself in strategic positions to get that crucial kill.

I also like the spaces between the rounds because I work from home and can respond to emails, do some minor busy work, etc inbetween rounds and matches.

Doing better at this game after...

Putting Ghost on all my classes
Realizing spawn points suck and there could be enemies spawn anywhere (especially bad in Ground War-Team Death Match)
Going into local splitscreen mode and finding a few guns I like was good too (since everything is available)

Also, I used to love RC cars, but now their sound strikes fear into my heart

Flak jacket is amazing for demolition. Unless a grenade is literally right on top of you you'll survive. Also the nova gas is pretty sweet as well for that game.

Don't you think that there's more "value" in a spy plane than an RC car?

Don't get me wrong, I have fun using Hardline and just building them up and spamming the map with 5 or 6 RC cars. But when I put my tryhard panties on, the spy planes seem to net me atleast 2-4 kills.

I've actually started running the Blackbird/Dogs/Chopper Gunner killstreaks in respawn team games and the basic 3/5/7 in FFA's and SnD.

P.S. I just realized there is a delay on throwing grenades/shooting noob tubes added to the killstreak delay in Search. So while this game isn't as intense (if you will) as previous Call of Duty's, if you die in Black Ops it's your fault more times than not. Which I think makes an incredible game.
  50. #50
I do like the RC car I play domination a lot so it's speed is quite useful in protecting a flag. It's very useful in taking out campers on a long killstreak, or when a group of players has a section of the map on lockdown. Also, It can be a great device to distract enemy players from your allies advance, most people are too busy trying to take it out to notice they are about to get shot.

Mostly though, I just enjoy terrorizng people with it. Nothing like running over a snipers face with it.
    (Josh)
  51. #51
meh, spyplane>rc car. I don't play tdm, as thats its own story, but in demo i hate having teammates that use it. Think of all the time youre wasting sitting there controlling the car trying to find one kill, that doesn't matter all that much, instead of diffusing/planting bombs. Same thing goes for care packages and anything else that comes in a crate.

I've become pretty bored of this game already. I will get on and play a couple of wager matches every now and then though.

I've decided Infinity Ward COD's are >>>>>>>> Treyarch COD's. Even though there are way more things to bitch about in IW games they easily make up for that with excitement.

So I googled The Ship and it seems similar. There's different modes but the main one is called manhunt and involves 8 players. Each player is assigned a target. Depending on standings, a player can have 1-4 people hunting their target or hunting them. If you do stupid things like sprint, or climb buildings in front of your target, a red icon shows above you and alerts them for usually an easy get away. The whole point is to move among the crowd and sneak up on your target while trying to keep a lookout for someone sneaking up on you.

The other modes include alliance, where it's a 2 v 2 v 2 where each team is assigned to attack one of the others for the entire round and then you switch to attacking the other two. I forget the name of the last mode but its a 4 v 4 where one team is always attacking and the other is always trying to hide or flee. Then after 5 minutes you switch. I enjoy the 4 v 4 because you can customize your loadout/profile to each side. On defensive side i have the sprint burst (faster sprint for 15 seconds) and the smoke bomb (stuns attacked allowing you to hit b button and stun them gaining points) and on offense I use the gun (otherwise you just have a small blade for close up kills, gun regens every minute) and firecrackers (if target is hiding in crowd of similar looking AIs, the firecracker scares away all the AIs). It's not a game I'd play for hours but it's a nice break from the usual FPS.

Anyone play the Kinder Toten Nazi Zombies on Black Ops? If you ever played the old Nazi Zombies on World at War its a LOOOTTTT tougher on this one. Zombies get way harder, way faster, house is HUGE, mystery box moves very frequently, etc.

There's no set place to hold your ground vs the zombies like there was on Der Riese from WaW. Me and my buddy spent like 4 hours yesterday figuring out a strategy and eventually made it to level 13.

    Strategy: (For 2 players)
    - In the starting area, one player gets the two downstairs windows (the one's closest to the teleporter where you come through) and the 2nd player gets the window upstairs and the one underneath the stairs.
    - Hold in the first area through the first 2 levels. Use pistol rounds SPARINGLY. DO NOT BUY A WEAPON IN THIS AREA.
-Zombies are still very weak. First round you can kill each zombie with one knife (2nd round = 2 knives, 3rd round = 3) so let them tear down the barricades, shoot each one 1-2 times (milking for points, you'll need these) and then knife. Then repair barricades for more points.
    - After level 2, be prepared to hold for maybe 2 minutes then retreat to the next 2 areas. Go ahead and unload with your pistol for maximum points and utilize your knife + grenades for as long as possible before retreating. (don't use 'nades earlier because they aren't worth very many points, use only when you need to for survival purposes)
    - When you are ready to retreat, go up the stairs and all the way to the right. Have the person with the least amount of points buy this door as it is only $750. Run through the door into the next room. If the mystery box isnt there (it rarely is) proceed down the hall to the next door. The person that DIDN'T buy the first door should buy this one ($1250). Go down the first flight of stairs and then go down the right side of the next set of stairs. At the bottom of the stairs buy the MP40 ($1000). (Sometimes the mystery box will be in this room as well, take advantage of it when possible.)
    - Go ahead and finish off the zombies from Round 3 here. (Feel free to explore the area to get familiar with ways to run when they start overrunning you in later levels, also locate the Stakeout, the 6 round pump action shotgun.)
    - To hold in this area, go to the bottom of the stairs and have one person cover the flight of stairs to the left, and the window right next to them. The other person holds the right side of the stairs and the window directly out front past the table. (Note: on the table is an automatic turret that you can activate for $1500 after you turn on the power. Should come in handy later when you're running around trying to survive.)
    - Stay here until you have $1500, then go up the stairs to the right and buy the Stakeout. (Trust me, you'll want this when you get in a tight spot. It's a one shot kill up to level 13 (possibly further.))
    - After you have the Stakeout and MP40, hold here until level 6 when the Dogs come. You can use either weapon for these as they are pretty weak. I recommend the MP40 unless you are out of ammo since you get more points that way(DO NOT BUY MORE AMMO FOR EITHER WEAPON, the final Dog you kill will ALWAYS drop a Max Ammo.)
    - After this level, the way to play it becomes pretty variable. You can either attempt to hold here for a little bit longer before pulling back to the next room or immediately pull back. I recommend the latter since its pretty risky to stick around as the zombies in level 7 get pretty fast/strong and come in large numbers.

****This is what we've been experimenting with from here on out****
    - As soon as you grab the max ammo, have the person with the most points buy the door into the next area (it will be pretty obvious). Run down the hall and turn around so you are facing the entrance to this room. Have the person with the least amount of points (after buying the door, if that makes a difference) face in that direction so you can kill the horde of zombies that will be arriving shortly and rack up points. Use the MP40 and don't be afraid to throw a grenade or 3. Don't forget about the window to the left as it can catch you off guard if you aren't expecting it.
    - For the person with the most points, while your partner is holding the front of this area, you have a key role in holding the back area. There is a whole in the ceiling where zombies can drop down and a couple of windows where zombies can break through. (Don't worry about where these are at, just make sure you know that zombies can come from that general direction.) I recommend using the MP40 here when applicable, but when they drop from the ceiling you should be ready to switch to your Stakeout since a few hits will knock you down and totally fuck your partner who is likely swamped from the zombies to the front.)
    - After this level, buy the next area. I recommend trying to leave 2-3 zombies left alive so you have time to look around + backtrack to look for routes to escape through. You will likely find the mystery box here. Go ahead and get it and switch out the MP40 for anything decent. (Remember the Stakeout is still useful).
    - You will find the switch to activate the power in this room, however I think its best if you hold off for one level in this are if you can. The only way they can get in is through the window at the very back of the room and the door to the front. (Note: The Stinkers, (idk, thats just what we call them lol, you'll know exactly who I'm talking about once you see them in game) can climb down the walls so make sure you're looking all over.)

    - After this, you're pretty much on your own. Try to find Speed Cola and Juggernaug (Sleight of Hand + More Total Health). Me and my friend think the best strategy is to try to make a complete circle by unlocking most/all of the doors and continuously run around shooting zombies while activating the auto turrets to mow them down behind you.

We still haven't had time to activate the teleports yet and I'm thinking thats one of the key things to do since you unlock the Pack-A-Punch like in Der Reise. (Upgrades your weapons.)

If you guys have any other tips, I'm all ears. I fucking LOVE Nazi Zombies lol.

    Any questions?

ez way to rack up points at the beginning is shooting zombies in leg 8-9 times (they wont die and you get 10 for every hit) then you stab them....also for first 2 roudns let them tear down barriers so you can reset them for easy points....

also downstairs way is like 2039482308 times better imo than the top but to each his own

also in your guide you didnt mention how important it is to stockpile points to get to 5000 to get the upgraded weaponry in the teleport which allows you to easily make it deep

We hadn't cracked the level that far, but yes racking up points is a must. I avoid using too much ammo early on just in case I need it during the 3rd round when you get a decent horde of zombies vs your pistol and knife.

Repairing barricades is defo ldo for point farming.

I suck so bad at console FPS games, but I pwn hard in that NES-like top down shooter (kinda like Contra/Smash TV). 3rd play I almost topped a million points.
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

they have a game called cod dead ops arcade. same thing as top down.
    to find it.
    at the main menu
push l1 l2 like you're shooting then you break free.
walk to the left till you see a computer.
then type in on the onscreen keyboard. doa
then it brings you to a screen that has zombies and a monkey chasing you.
    wait for it.
    then play.

Ghost Pro does. Ghost only hides you from spy planes. I'm also pretty sure Ghost Pro doesn't hide you from Blackbirds though. :/

But if the driver (chopper gunner or gunship) finds your spawn in team games he can just spray into it or if you spawn next to a teammate without Ghost pro you can just be collateral damage. (Which really sucks)

That's how winners play; we convince the other guy he's making all the right moves.
