I'm sure this goes without saying, but even if the relationship does sour, be sure to be the best parent you can be. Start now... start reading. Don't wait until your hand is raised to decide whether or not you'll spank/hit your kid. Don't just figure that it will all works itself out. Treat this shit seriously, put more effort into this than anything else in your life, and if you do that, even if there isn't a picture perfect Disney ending, things should turn out more or less ok.
