Okay, half a bottle of jack and I'm back. Zoom makes shit all pixelated but I'm pretty sure it's a shovel. WCC CFL frame, 16" (15"?) rear and 19" front. Bars are cool. Obv S&S air cleaner (maybe came with the S&S motor? Nah, AMF motor.) Friscoed sporty tank is cool too. Only thing I see changing is ditching the forwards for mids and a little extra ride height. Looks like fun tho.

Let me break it down for you. Do you hold your left arm out at a low angle to acknowledge another rider on a crotch rocket when you pass them going the opposite direction travelling down a public roadway?

After a few years I've realized that roughly 8 out of 10 people who ride "cruisers" (if thats ok with you that I call them that) are dickheads that don't respect crotch rocket riders and will pretend like they don't see you. Just curious which category you two fine people fell into.

Lol, didn't know you meant "cool guy wave". I mostly stopped doing that years ago unless it seemed appropriate, which is rare to me. Usually I'll just give a nod and move on. Living in socal you can literally pass by hundreds of other bikes on sunday and the whole thing just gets old. But no, it has nothing to do with the type of bike a rider's on, to me it has more to do with the rider.

I've ridden a lot of different bikes over the years and a lot of them on the same roads and can tell you from experience that it works both ways. Sportbike riders will "lowhand" me more often if I'm on a sportbike than if I'm on a Harley and I've actually had a group of them flip me off for waving at them, so I think it's a standard cheerleader click type of thing on both sides of the spectrum. Honestly I just like riding motorcycles and could care less about all that shit.

I kinda stopped doing the wave thind a few years ago. Too many guys saw me wave to them and must have thought I was interested or something. I can't tell you how many times I've had to tell some guy to fuck off after they've made a u-turn to "ride with me".

@ Supa - you know your bikes pretty good - shovel, S&S cleaner, but the frame's a paughco, not wcc. Had to reposition the bars backwards a bit...I'm short

Also - can't stand AMF motors, they're not balanced for shit

Anyone who rides with no helmet and open toe shoes, regardless of laws, is a huge fucking moron. I still wave (or waved since I don't currently ride) at anyone on 2 wheels out of habit/respect for other riders though.

I had my helmet stolen off my CBR and had to make a 10ish mile ride home and it was not one of the more fun things I have ever done, in addition to not being able to see shit since the wind had my eyes so watery.

Before the helmet law here I didn't even own a helmet. Now if I ride without one I feel completely vulnerable, although some of my helmets now don't really qualify as "helmets".

Rode my sons xr50 down the street one time wearing flip flops and looped it in a wheelie. Lost both my big toenails, won't do that again.

I uesd to wear shorts a lot during the summer but knowing that I would have lost a shitton of meat off my leg if I was wearing shorts during my last crash I'll prolly keep to long pants from now on.

I feel like people who don't wear gear fall into two camps:

A) Just simply ignorant of how comfortable modern gear can be.

--I wear ATGATT and I am perfectly comfortable in high 80° high humidity weather.

B) They just think they are too cool for gear... they are tough guys, and they think it will mess up their image...

--While they are still retards, I get this for chopper guys, a full face helmet doesn't really fit the image. But full gear looks cool on crotch rockets as they are essentially race bikes, so I can't say I understand going without gear on a crotch rocket...

Agree with most of what Boost said but having had a bike for my only trans over different periods of my life I'm not gonna gear up when I go to the grocery store. I've never owned a full set of leathers but I pretty much dress according to the kind of riding I'm gonna do.

Ya, I mean, I guess I feel that. It's just that I saw my brothers face swollen to the size of a large pumpkin and still see the scars on his face, arm, and leg from the road rash/smacking the curb-- He was going about 20mph.

Also it's just a slippery slope of "well I'm just going this far, I don't need to wear it." And suddenly you're jumping on the highway with no gear because the trip is relatively short. This reason is obviously more personal as I feel that I have poor self control in slippery slope situations.

Lastly, I just feel horribly vulnerable when I don't have gear on. And my only experience without gear is taking my bike from the front of the house around in the alley to the garage... I can envision the aftermath of blipping the throttle while my rear wheel is over that wet patch of leaves or that loose gravel... I want to ride for a long long time, I don't want my enjoyment of motorcycling to be cutshort because I was too lazy to strap on a helmet or too much of a bitch to deal with the little more heat brought by long pants and a jacket (my summer jacket has too much ventilation if its anywhere below 75°..)... Don't mean to be preachy, but it's just something I feel pretty strongly about.

The only time I laid mine down I was trying to land a wheelie in a parking space at my old apartment. Was easily doing less than 15mph and ended up with a knee full of stitches and a dislocated shoulder. I'm sure 20mph could fuck someone up pretty good.
