I love cider - like you say some really good stuff around. I was at a night market last night in the funk van. Some guy had converted a horsebox into a bar (http://www.hopbox.co.uk/). He had some Sheppy Cider on tap. Awesome stuff.

But yuck, over sweet, over fizzy cider (though every now and then in a shitty pub I might have a Bulmers).

yeah it's some hipsterey "heritage apples only" cider. not bad but I switched back to beer after one, even tho it wasn't THAT sweet. I still find ciders pretty acidic and I don't think my gut would be happy if I consumed 4+.

It's big place, so people can think it's unfriendly, however it's a very diverse place with lots going on. The streets are paved with gold.

As for the cider, very nice. Medium so not too dry, lots of flavour. I'm finishing the bottle now and have that first drink 7.2% tingle....I fear if I drank another 3 or 4 I might end up in trouble...

I've never heard of anyone making their own but I suppose you could just put a bunch of salt and clam broth in tomato juice and see how that works. The only off the shelves product I've ever seen was this:

Maybe mott's is the only company that makes it, who knows. Someone I know who was staying in London said they could get it at some "Canadian shoppe" or something like that. Apparently such a thing exists in london idk...

Then you still need a casear recipe. Mine is:

Start a glass with ice cubes with salt, pepper, worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, vodka, freshly squeezed lemon (limes work too). Pour clamato to the top. Celery is the std boring garnish but I prefer pickled beans/peppers or olives.

Just a heads up: Proof is a measure of alcohol content per volume.
