I think that if the consumption of alcohol regularly (even if it's minimally) interferes with performing your job or other responsibilities, or taking part in other hobbies that you enjoy (or used to enjoy) then you probably have a problem.

I think chemical addition is much easier to identify. If you don't drink for 48+ hours, does your body break down or do you immediately suffer? If not, then you're probably not chemically addicted.

I don't have a chemical dependency on alcohol, but I do fall into habits of using it to mitigate stress and anxiety. During various stretches it has been a problem where it's severely interfering with completing work (typically because the task seems to onerous or I'm just worried about my ability to complete it at a very high level) or missing early morning meetings because I'm hungover or something like that.

The funny thing for me is that if I'm not specifically choosing healthy options to mitigate stress (such as exercise, meditation, etc.) and I choose NOT to drink alcohol, I can still fuck my ability to complete challenging work tasks by simply finding distractions such as binging Netflix or some web series of YouTube (which leads to not sleeping, exhaustion and incomplete tasks at work). It's hard to explain to people at times that think I have a drinking problem, because they think i'm just making excuses. But I don't have a drinking problem, i have a problem with stress and anxiety. Not drinking doesn't fix that problem.

The most healthy i've been in the last 5 years is when I was unemployed 6+ months. I barely drank, and was NOT due to lack of funds.

Jokes aside, I find if drinking puts you in a shit mood, there's something deep down eating at you that you should acknowledge. Drinking used to put me down only because I was kind of down overall. Now life is good and drinking is better.

Nope & you're forgetting the fruit juice. I can't complain too much it was nice. I think proof is more of a europe thing.

I'd always expect it to be weaker than wine but I was assuming 8-10%.

I've just finished off a bottle of wine and I'm making my way onto the newly discovered diet dr pepper and vodka, the diet dr pepper being the discovery. Tastes like dr pepper (which is better than almost all soda anyway) yet I don't wake up with a vile taste in my mouth like when I drink things like coke.

Listening to a few songs I used to listen to when I was at uni the first few times I did MDMA, I feel like I need to just get a playlist sorted and do some whilst chilling by myself in my room. I wish I was an outgoing MDMa user (maybe generally in person) but unless I know most people are in that messy state where you just want to meld together I think this is optimal for me. I imagine convincing a few of my mates to do the same is a harder thing.

Especially when I kind of just want to listen to meatloaf on full blast whilst in a complete mess.
