easy computer question

im going to pick up a xbox 360. want to hook it up to internet for live.

Question is id have to run a cable from my 360, probably a good 35 feet or so. the blue internet wire comes into my room, goes into this little white box where there is a female connector. from there theres a 3 foot male/male blue internet tube into my computer. When i hook my xbox 360 intertron up, could i just stick it into my computer also, or would i need to buy a splitter so i could stick in two wires into my internet tube box thing.

the little white box is maybe 2x2 inches, its not a router.

or would it just be in my best interest to pick up a wireless adapter for 360
