I don't think that's what Sansa was going for, but it is what LF was going for. Sansa didn't tell Jon about the Vale army possibly showing up because D&D wanted to surprised the audience as much as they could. They kept it from being Deus ex by having Sansa send the letter in a scene that casuals forget.
