getting started in sports betting?

Hey all - Me and a buddy have been doing some wagering on games lately and i pretty much suck at it. He does pretty well but his betting style makes me nervous - hes like that poker maniac who can go all in with anything at anytime. Right now I only have a little over $500 for sports betting - Is this enough to get started?

I am wondering 2 things: Is it worth it to pay a handicapper for picks? I found a place where you can buy picks for $25 - $35 and if they lose, you don't pay the fee. im not really sure - i got so used to neteller, i don't even know what other options are out there - I can use my bank account at Bodog. I guess I should open a firepay or something - what is the closest service to neteller? By that i just mean straight in/out of my bank account, no fees (for regular transactions) and widely accepted?

Yeah. This is a pretty cruddy time right now for the offshore gaming business.
