Was explained in Sopranos. They look past "giving" in prison because so many of them are in prison and there's no women around or something.

I don't recall Tony explaining it other than something along the lines of the family turns a blind eye to it in prison, but that's it. As long as they're not catching and not doing it out of prison and not acting gay and stuff.

Frankly, I think a large portion of successful mobsters are sociopaths (or at least sociopathic), and they have huge issues with dominion over others. So combine the fact that there are no women, they're often in prison for a long damn time, those in prison are also not ratting (so somebody on the outside might have thought twice before condemning the first one in there to plug a butt), with the fact that they have mental issues about dominating and abusing other people, and you have your recipe for fucking dudes in prison being okay

Seriously, especially if you watch Sopranos, all those fucking gangsters are the cream of the crop when it comes to inflated egos and cruelty towards anybody deemed inferior. Assfucking in prison could simply be subtley rationalized in their minds
