Btw, just checked some stats: in 2005, 11,000 or so Americans were killed with guns; 78 Brits were killed by guns. I think the US homicide rate is about 3 times higher than the UK rate; taking this into account, along with a 5x greater population, guns kill* almost 10 times as many people per capita in the US than in the UK.

We have gun control in the UK.

This argument is often brought up. The thing is, its comparing apples to oranges. UK doesn't have less violent crime because of gun control, it has less because it is the UK. America has always been a violent country. Think of the old west. I am just saying that you can't compare the two countrys. They are different.
