    Default Help - Wireless problem

So I went home for Xmas cuz my mom's off for the week and I don't have shit else to do. I can steal wireless from the neighbors but it's sketchy so poker is out and porn is irritating. So I bring home my wireless router.

Problem, you apparently can't daisy-chain D-link routers (the current one isn't wireless). My old roommate had a good router, Belkin I think, and I daisy chained my there. Not sure if he changed anything.

I can't plug the modem directly into my router. I think the cable modem needs to be reset to resolve the MAC address change, but I can't call TW because I'm leaving the 26th and I don't think they're open to reset it again. There is no reset on the modem itself.

    So, any suggestions?

Basically I"m just really pissed right now.

I thought cable modems completely reset themselves after being unplugged for a minute or two. It seems weird to me that your wireless router won't work with the cable modem plugged directly into it.

Also, I take it the router is in an incovenient place for you to run a long ethernet cable to your computer?

GL to you. I'm going to my gf's family's place for the holidays and they don't have wireless. I'm bringing my laptop and a long ethernet cable... hopefully I'll be able to work something out.

It's no tunusual for a cable modem to only give IP address to the registered MAC address of the device that was registered for it. This information is often kept on the DHCP server of the ISP, so simply power cycling the modem does nothing.
