In this country it's a mandatory 12 month licence suspension, plus fines and/or imprisonment. If you do it again, the punishment grows exponentially.

A writer for the Akron Beacon Journal did his own un-official study where him and a buddy went to the inventor's hall of fame and tested their response time, went to a bar had 4 beers each, came back and did it again. His buddy had a faster response the second time, they both did better than several other random testers who had consumed no alcohol.

I call bullshit. I suspect a conscious or subconscious effort on the parts of the participants to skew the experiment in the direction they wanted it to go. And even if the results were absolutely kosher, I think we of all people know 2 = too small sample size.

I once got in my car wasted - so drunk I didn't even realise it was a mistake. A friend pulled me out of it, physically. When I was sober enough to understand what I'd done I was almost sick. Never again.

Drink driving is one of those things which is simply, unequivocally all bad, all the time.
