Ok, so I pretty much have no where else to rant and rave... so here goes.

It was Christmas weekend this past weekend, and I left work Thursday expecting a good weekend with lots of fun and family time. Friday opens and things are good, we are prepping the house for Christmas and the family being over Saturday and preparing our food that we are taking to the in-laws get together on Christmas eve.

So around 4pm, wife is dressed, coiffed and ready to go, so are me and the kid. We are packing the car, prepping the last few dishes, I have a pretty good cold going, but DayQuil is holding it at bay, even though I'm tired. Jump ahead to 4:30 and the wife is preparing the last dish we are taking to Christmas eve, Bruschetta, and as she preps to slice the bread, she is sharpening a knife and severs her finger to the bone, cutting tendons and everything in the path.

Drop what we are doing, pack her hand, attempt to stop the blood flow, get things under control, and decide to drop everything at the Christmas celebration on the way to the hospital. We get to the ER, and they examine her, stitch her up, recommend a doc to contact to arrange surgery to repair the damage and pack her up in a huge wrapping.

Back to Christmas Eve, everyone waited for us for presents, which was nice, but we were also told this was a 'White Elephant' gift exchange this christmas... no one else was. So we bought only two gifts for the exchange... everyone else bought for everyone else. This is my sister-in-law's way of getting even with my wife for other squabbles, and we look like shit now. Things go along as expected, and we head home around 9:30. Of course, I need to find a 24 hour pharmacy for painkillers and such for my wife, and have to leave out again, with my cold now fully raging and head for the only 24 hour pharmacy in the county.

That goes ok, and the rest of the evening does as well... so jump ahead to Christmas day. When opening presents with my mother and brother, who came over early, my daughter wrapped a duplicate gift for my brother, who didn't get much anyway (he drives me nuts) and he opens two of the same thing... much to his disappointment, which prompts my wife to turn around and explain the mistake, and give him cash on top of it. (WTF?)

So dinner happens, with the parents, my other sister in law, my brother and my wife and daughter there. Dinner goes pretty well except for my wife not telling me what to do to help then yelling at me to get the fuck out of the way... while she tries to do things with a big wrapped up claw.

We eat, and then things go to hell. Wife blows up at her mom and sister, telling her mom to shut the fuck up, tells her sister she is just fucking selfish and to get out of the house, and then proceeds to cry her eyes out all over her mom, as her dad sits in the car with the dog waiting to leave.

Add on top of that, I'm now fully into walking pnemonia and having a hard time staying sane. I'm popping dayquil like M&Ms and my nose keeps running down my face. I've gone through two boxes of tissues and am blowing constantly...

Page forward to Sunday, where I managed to sleep most of the day, about 15 hours total out of 24, but still had to hear about all of the drama more and blah blah blah.

Now it's Monday and I'll be honest, I'm freaking glad to be back at work at a job I can't stand.

So... if you had a crappy Christmas, I hope this makes you feel better. What did I get this Christmas? A bill for the ER, guaranteed Surgery for my wife, a severe cold, and still didn't really get any gifts I am that excited about.

Hope yours was better... here's to the start of 2011!
