tut tut. we'll have to agree to dis-agree BigRed (though The Mighty Boosh is i recon the funniest comedy around at the moment - anyone seen the "Eels" episode? I've got that as my ringtone...hahaha. "EELS! EELS! EELS!).

I watched Fawlty Towers (the bench mark of comedy in my oh so humble opinion) with an American at uni. He didn't crack a smile. Cultural differences i suppose....

both are great shows. the first season of the american version was by far the best string of shows that they have put out, and I believe that they were all remakes of the british version.

however, there have been single episodes that are better than the british version.

the american Michael is a bit easier to laugh at than the british David. the british ones is too good at what he does. I almost find myself unable to laugh at him and his antics because I feel bad for him/am so uncomfortable.

The british Tim is superior to the american Jim, whereas the british Dawn is inferior to the american Pam.

Gareth is easier to dislike than dwight, but dwight is a pretty damn funny character. and the interpaly between dwight and michael is superior to that between gareth and david. just my opinion though.

if you want to talk british vs american comedies where the british one wins by a landslide see coupling v. friends.

for a good british sketch comedy show, man stroke woman. it is probably older, but they are just starting to show it on the comedy network here.
