Is it true that the world will end on December 21, 2012?

I was watching a weird video yesterday on the History Channel, and basically there is a legend that the last day on the Mayan calendar is December 21, 2012. Supposedly, this means the world will end that day.

Do you believe this could be true? I know a lot of things happened in the past, such as Y2K and June 6, 2006.

actually, because of the way we count years, its not until 12/21/2013.
