Our calender ends on December 31st 2008 and will then be reset and begin again on January 1st 2009. The Mayan calender works the same way except their calender is much longer. When it comes to an end in 2012, it will begin again.

Our 365 days calender is based on one rotation around the sun.

The mayan calender is based on passing through the solar plain.
