"the world will end" would generally mean that everyone in it is either dead or gone.
that the material world will end is kind of difficult atm, there is no possible weapon that can dimply destroy the eart, liks say, splitting it in two right now. ieam, it would take an asteroid the half the size of mars to positively destroy the world, as in how Krypton from Superman got destroyed
However, that does not mean we are not on a deadline. In 5 Billion years, the material world will disappear, with the usually benevolent sun (Sol) going Nova. But its waaaay to far away for any of us to care, and by then we would have migrated to other systems already.
