licking the knife is completely standard. as is licking the plate/anything with remnants of the food on it. it's not rude. it's EV maximisation. | |

Knife in right, fork in offhand left, cut the meat completely, then put down the knife, fork back to right hand and eat away. If it isn't too formal I do it like this. | |

Amongst all the other reasons discussed above, this is a massive security issue. It's a lot easier to protect one large piece of meat with a fork AND knife in your hands than many small pieces of meat with just a fork. I mean, two well timed attacks from opposing flanks and you're suffering many meat nibble casualties. | |
